Yes. Fans have made first-person camera mods for the 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake, but they are community-made PC projects—not an official game mode. The current standard camera mod can still pull back to a cinematic view during combat; separate projects use UEVR to create VR experiences.
What the standard first-person mod does
The current Nexus Mods listing is First Person FPP Camera Mode by axbhub, version 1.30, last updated November 5, 2025. Its description says it changes the camera to first person. The author’s notes specify a 90-degree field of view, moving the camera forward to avoid clipping while sprinting, and removing camera lag.
It is not an uninterrupted first-person overhaul: the camera pulls back cinematically when James fights enemies. The author says combat camera behavior may be developed further, but the listing does not establish that this has happened.
Installation and compatibility
The listing instructs users to copy the files into SHProtoContentPaks~mods. It also says the mod is incompatible with other mods that change camera settings. These are the author’s instructions; they have not been independently tested here. Mod versions and compatibility can change, so check the listing for current details before installing.

An earlier first-person mod
A separate Nexus Mods project, First Person Mod by JessicaNatalia, was uploaded October 8, 2024. Its author describes it as an early version and warns that it may have issues and may not continue to be updated. The mod makes James’s model invisible during gameplay, which also means he does not appear in cutscenes. It is not established as equivalent to the later FPP Camera Mode.
What about first-person VR?
There are also distinct community projects that use UEVR rather than the standard camera mod. The SH2R-UEVR project describes a remake-specific first-person VR mode, with smooth movement and camera correction for interactions and audio direction. Its setup requires the latest UEVR nightly and importing the project’s release ZIP. Its author warns that an earlier UEVR profile for the game may conflict.

- SILENT HILL FANDOM: No psychological horror game is complete with its puzzles, and Silent Hill 2, being one of the cornerstones of the genre, is no different. One of those puzzles is found in room 105 of the Blue Creek Apartments, and game protagonist James has to place three previously discovered coins (depicting an old man, a prisoner, and a snake) into indents in a dresser to obtain a key.
- DIMENSIONS: Each coin diameter 38mm.
- LIMITED EDITION: Limited to 5,000 worldwide and individually numbered.
- GREAT GIFT IDEA: Add this coin set to your personal collection or gift it to the Silent Hill fan in your life!
A separate UEVR project by jbusfield describes six-degrees-of-freedom motion controls and options for a visible body. These are VR setups, not features of the standard camera mod; the sources do not establish that the projects work together or are plug-and-play.
