Can you play the campaign locally or join a friend’s story?
The official materials reviewed do not establish a local split-screen story mode, nor do they describe joining a friend to play through the campaign. Do not assume that sharing an online lobby or being able to play missions together means the story itself is co-op. Do you need story progress to unlock co-op missions?
Some progression may be needed before Parallel Quests are available. Bandai Namco Europe’s 2019 announcement for Xenoverse 2 Lite says Parallel Quests unlock according to story episode progression. That statement concerns the Lite version; it should not be treated as a complete unlock guide for every edition or every multiplayer activity.
Does DLC make the story co-op?
The publisher’s DLC catalog includes additional story content, including the FUTURE SAGA chapters. Bandai Namco announced Chapter 4 as the final FUTURE SAGA chapter on July 8, 2026. The existence of those story additions does not establish that their story arcs can be played cooperatively; the official material reviewed does not confirm DLC story co-op.
