You can cancel an eligible purchase within 24 hours only if you have not used or equipped the item, or use a Return Ticket for an eligible purchase made within the last 30 days. The item is removed from your account and the V-Bucks are returned. Real-money purchases made through another platform follow that platform’s refund process.
Cancel Purchase or use a Return Ticket?
Epic provides two routes for eligible V-Bucks Item Shop purchases. Cancel Purchase is intended for a recent mistaken purchase; a Return Ticket can be used later, subject to the purchase window and your available tickets. Epic’s Fortnite refund guidance describes both options.

| Option | When it may apply | Item-use rule | Ticket required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel Purchase | Within 24 hours of an eligible purchase | The item must not have been used or equipped in any game mode | No |
| Return Ticket | For an eligible purchase made within the last 30 days | The 24-hour unused-item condition does not define this route; eligibility still depends on the item and account options | Yes; one ticket is consumed |
For either route, a successful return removes the item and returns its V-Bucks. Each item can be canceled only once.
How many Fortnite Return Tickets do you get?
Epic says accounts start with three Return Tickets. One new ticket is added every 365 days, and the account can hold no more than three at a time. Epic Support cannot grant extra tickets. If the 24-hour Cancel Purchase window has passed and you have no ticket available, Epic says the purchase cannot be returned through these options.

- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
How to cancel or return an eligible purchase
- In Fortnite, open Player Icon → Support and Refunds → Return or cancel purchase.
- Select the item you want to return or cancel.
- Review the displayed option and confirm if it is available and you want to proceed.
Epic also describes a route through the web Item Shop. Menu wording or placement may change; if the sequence differs, look for the Support and Refunds area. You can also review the recent refundable-purchases list there. Epic says it covers purchases from the last 30 days, so older purchases do not appear. An item appearing on the list is not, by itself, a guarantee that every return option applies. Epic’s instructions for viewing recent refundable purchases explain the list.
Which Fortnite purchases are excluded?
The standard Cancel Purchase and Return Ticket process is for eligible Fortnite Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks. Epic lists several exclusions, including:

- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.

- Redemption: Online
- Passes, pass levels, and premium reward tracks
- Gifted purchases
- Level Up Quest Packs
- Certain Save the World items
- Purchases made in developer-created islands
Battle Pass rewards earned through gameplay are not refundable through these options: Epic treats them as earned rewards, not eligible purchases. That means an earned Battle Pass skin is different from a skin bought in the Item Shop.
Epic notes that certain cosmetics may qualify for a tokenless return in special circumstances. This is limited to specific items and is not guaranteed for a particular purchase; check the options shown in your account. Epic’s list of items that can be returned provides more detail about the exclusions.
Rank #3
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
What if you paid real money or bought the skin on a console?
Do not treat a V-Bucks Item Shop return as the refund route for a real-money payment. Epic says it cannot refund purchases made with real money through a third party. Contact the platform or payment provider that processed the transaction—such as the relevant console storefront—to ask about its refund process. The outcome and rules depend on that platform.
Epic Games Store purchases have a separate refund process, with eligibility that depends on whether a product is self-refundable, the time since purchase, and playtime. Those Store conditions do not apply to a Fortnite skin bought with V-Bucks in the Item Shop. Epic’s guidance on requesting a Fortnite purchase refund distinguishes these routes.

Check the right route before you request a refund
- Paid with V-Bucks in the Item Shop: check Cancel Purchase if it has been less than 24 hours and the item is unused and unequipped; otherwise check whether a Return Ticket is available for an eligible purchase from the last 30 days.
- Earned a Battle Pass reward: it cannot be returned through Cancel Purchase or a Return Ticket.
- Paid real money through a third-party platform: contact that platform rather than relying on Fortnite’s V-Bucks return options.
Epic’s support guidance reviewed October 7, 2026, describes these policy windows and routes. It does not establish how consumer-protection rights apply in every country or region; for a statutory-rights question, consult the consumer guidance where you live.
