Not inside the game. MLB The Show 26 has no documented feature for importing a personal playlist, MP3 library, or custom soundtrack. On Xbox Series X|S, the reliable workaround is to play Spotify in the console’s background, then lower or mute the game’s soundtrack music. PlayStation players report that background Spotify playback works, but that is a community-reported workaround rather than a published MLB The Show 26 integration. The official support information confirms a Nintendo Switch version but does not document a background-audio or custom-music method for that platform.
What “replace the soundtrack” means in MLB The Show 26
There are two different features players often mean when they ask about replacing the music:

- An in-game importer: the game reads MP3 files or a console music library and uses those tracks in menus, between innings, or during other game events.
- External background playback: a music app runs on the console while MLB The Show 26 is open. You reduce the game’s music volume so your external playlist becomes the audible soundtrack.
Only the second approach is supported by the evidence currently available. MLB The Show 26 is documented for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, but its official support information does not list a custom soundtrack importer. That means you should not expect an in-game menu that scans a USB drive, console hard drive, or streaming account for songs.

Background playback is also not the same as an integration. Spotify can continue playing while you return to a game, but MLB The Show 26 does not automatically organize those songs into its menus, assign them to players, or trigger them at specific baseball events. You are mixing two independent audio sources: the game’s commentary, crowd and effects, and the console’s music app.

How to play your playlist while playing on Xbox
Xbox has the clearest documented route because Spotify’s Xbox instructions explicitly describe continuing playback after you return to a game and controlling it from the Xbox Guide.
- Install or open Spotify on the Xbox. Sign in if necessary and open the playlist, album or queue you want to hear.
- Start playback before launching or resuming MLB The Show 26. Confirm that a song is playing through the console’s audio output.
- Return to MLB The Show 26. Spotify says playback continues when you go back to a game, so the music should remain audible while you play.
- Open the Xbox Guide when you need controls. From the Guide, pause playback, skip a track, choose music, or change the music volume without closing the baseball game. The exact on-screen arrangement can vary with Xbox system software, but the Guide is the control surface described by Spotify.
- Lower the game’s soundtrack music. Open MLB The Show 26’s audio settings and reduce or disable the title’s own music if that control is exposed in your version. Keep commentary, stadium ambience and sound effects at the levels you want.
Spotify’s guidance makes the same practical recommendation: “If the game allows, you can disable in-game music for the best Spotify experience.” Muting only the soundtrack is preferable to muting all game audio. You can then hear pitch feedback, bat and glove sounds, crowd reactions and commentary beneath your playlist.
What the Xbox workaround can and cannot do
- It can play a Spotify queue continuously while MLB The Show 26 is running.
- It can let you pause, skip, select music and adjust playback from the Xbox Guide.
- It cannot import songs into MLB The Show 26’s own jukebox or assign a track to a created player.
- It does not make Spotify tracks react to innings, at-bats, menu changes or walk-up animations.
If you want the game’s original presentation in one mode and your own music in another, keep the soundtrack volume available rather than permanently muting it. You can switch the setting back when you stop using Spotify.

Using Spotify in the background on PlayStation 5
Players in a The Show community discussion report that Spotify can play in the background on PS4 and PS5 while gaming. The same discussion says PS5 removed the older ability to import MP3 files into the game. That is useful practical evidence, but it is not an official MLB The Show 26 feature specification, so behavior can depend on PlayStation system software, account setup and the game’s available audio controls.
On PS5, the process is conceptually the same as on Xbox:
- Open Spotify and start the playlist you want.
- Return to MLB The Show 26 without closing Spotify.
- Use the PlayStation system’s media controls to pause or skip tracks when needed.
- Open MLB The Show 26’s audio settings and turn down its soundtrack music while leaving commentary, crowd and effects at useful levels.
The important qualification is that this is external playback, not a connection between Spotify and MLB The Show 26. If the game’s audio menu does not provide separate music control in a particular version, you may have to accept a louder mix of game music or reduce the overall game volume at the system level. That sacrifices commentary and effects, so it is not equivalent to an in-game importer.

Can you add MP3s or custom walk-up music on PS5?
There is no documented MLB The Show 26 method for copying MP3 files into the game on PS5. The community report specifically contrasts PS5 with the older MP3-import capability, indicating that the previous path was removed rather than carried forward. Do not assume that placing files on a USB drive, saving them to the console, or opening a music app will make them selectable as walk-up songs inside MLB The Show 26.
External music also does not create custom walk-up assignments. A playlist can be audible during an at-bat, but it cannot be registered as a player’s walk-up track through the documented controls.
What about Nintendo Switch?
MLB The Show 26 is officially supported on Nintendo Switch. However, the available support information does not provide a custom-soundtrack importer, an official background Spotify procedure, or another platform-specific playlist method for Switch.

That distinction matters because a method that works on Xbox or PlayStation should not be presented as portable to Switch. Without documented system-level background playback for this use, you should not promise that Spotify or locally stored MP3s can continue over the game. A separate device could play music in the room, but that is not a console replacement of the game’s soundtrack and will not provide integrated volume control.

MLB 08 had a feature called “My MLB Music.” In a PlayStation.Blog announcement dated February 13, 2008, producer Jason Villa described it as allowing players to use music stored on a PlayStation 3 hard drive or a PSP Memory Stick Pro Duo to create a “Jukebox Playlist.” That was a feature of MLB 08 and its PS3/PSP environment.

Different console generations, storage systems and game audio architectures mean that an older importer cannot be assumed to exist in a current release. Searching MLB The Show 26 for a menu named “My MLB Music” is therefore unlikely to produce the old functionality.

Fixing common background-playback problems
The game’s music is still competing with the playlist
Reopen the game’s audio settings and lower the soundtrack music control rather than the master volume, if separate controls are available. If there is no separate music slider, reduce the game volume only as far as necessary and raise the external player cautiously. The goal is to preserve commentary, stadium sound and gameplay effects.
Commentary or effects disappear
This usually means the overall game volume was reduced instead of only the music layer. Restore the master level, then adjust individual music, commentary, stadium and effects controls. If the title exposes no separate music control, a clean mix may not be possible on that platform.
Spotify pauses when the game opens
On Xbox, Spotify’s documented behavior is that playback continues when you return to a game. If it stops, reopen the Xbox Guide, resume playback, and check that the Spotify app is signed in and outputting to the same console audio device. On PlayStation, the community evidence is less authoritative, so a system update or title behavior may change the result.

Use the console’s system overlay rather than looking for a playlist menu inside MLB The Show 26. Xbox users access the controls through the Xbox Guide. PlayStation users should use the system media controls. Neither overlay turns the playlist into an in-game jukebox.
You expected songs to trigger for walk-ups or menus
Background playback is continuous audio layered over the game. It has no documented event mapping, so it will not automatically select a song for a created player, synchronize a chorus with a home run, or change tracks when you enter a menu.

Bottom line for MLB The Show 26 players
You cannot currently replace MLB The Show 26’s soundtrack from inside the game through a documented playlist or MP3 importer. Xbox offers the most clearly supported solution: run Spotify in the background, control it from the Xbox Guide, and mute or lower the game’s own music. PS5 players report a similar Spotify workaround, but it should be treated as system-level playback rather than a guaranteed feature. Switch is supported as a platform, yet no official custom-music procedure is documented. The old “My MLB Music” feature from MLB 08 belongs to a different game and console generation.
