Yes. Prologue to Tau is a permanent, replayable Codex quest in Warframe once you have completed The Hex and The Old Peace. Replaying it runs the story and lore again on your existing account; it does not erase quest completion, replace your save, remove inventory, or reset account progress. The original quest rewards are not granted a second time.

Digital Extremes’ hotfix notes call the chapters “a permanent addition to the Main Story” and “replayable.” That wording matters: this is an intentional replay feature, not a temporary mission window and not a new-player tutorial that replaces your existing campaign state.
Warframe Support gives the general rule for replayable quests: “Most quests cannot be replayed once completed. There are few exceptions as displayed below, however replays are for lore purpose only and completing the quest again will not give you the quest reward again.” Prologue to Tau is one of those exceptions.

Prerequisites and the Codex location
Complete both required quests
You must finish The Hex and The Old Peace before the Tau Prologue Series becomes available. These are completion requirements, not optional recommendations. If either quest is still incomplete, the Prologue entry will not be available to start through the documented route.
Open the Tau Prologue Series
- Launch Warframe on the account where The Hex and The Old Peace are complete.
- Open the in-game Codex.
- Select the Tau Prologue Series entry.
- Choose the Prologue chapter you want to run and launch it from that series entry.
The official announcement states that the quest was added to the Codex on October 15, 2026. It is a permanent addition that can be completed at your leisure, so you do not need to finish it before a countdown expires.
Does a replay reset your save or quest completion?
No documented reset occurs. Replaying Prologue to Tau does not undo the completed quests that unlocked it, roll back your inventory or create a replacement account save. The game is replaying the narrative layer while retaining the progression state that already exists on your account.

The Cross Platform Progression guidance describes quests and items as part of the unified Cross Platform Save account. That distinction is useful when interpreting the word “reset”: a Codex replay is not the same operation as creating, migrating or replacing a unified account save. Nothing in the published replay guidance indicates that replaying the Prologue deletes or rewrites that progression.

What happens to rewards, items and progression?
Quest rewards
Do not replay expecting a second copy of the original quest reward. The support policy specifically limits replay completion to lore and says the original quest reward is not issued again. If you are replaying to obtain an item, blueprint or other first-clear reward, the replay is not the documented way to do that.
Completed quests and inventory
The purpose of the replay is to present the story again while your account remains in its existing state. The published materials do not describe a rollback of quest flags, inventory, equipment or other account progression. In practical terms, replaying should be treated as a second viewing of the narrative, not as a reversible save slot.

Cross-platform accounts
Cross Platform Progression treats quests and items as part of the unified account save. A replay launched from the Codex does not replace that save. If you use a unified Cross Platform Save account, the same distinction still applies: replaying a quest and replacing account progression are separate concepts.
Is Prologue to Tau the same as Epoch Operation: Taubound?
No. They are connected in the story but separate in the game systems. Prologue to Tau is a permanent quest series in the Codex. Epoch Operation: Taubound was a limited-time operation with its own rewards and dialogue. The official announcement says the Prologue remains after the operation ends and is not tied to the operation’s rewards or dialogue.
That also means replaying the Prologue does not replay Taubound. The operation itself has no rerun, so opening the Prologue should not be interpreted as restoring the event, its event-only reward track or its event dialogue. You are launching the permanent narrative quest, not reactivating the operation.

Restart the game and check the Codex for the Tau Prologue Series. The official materials establish that the series is permanent and replayable, so an interruption does not turn it into a one-time, permanently missed quest.
There is no published promise of a manual checkpoint selector, an account-level “reset quest” button or a command that clears a partially completed chapter. Do not assume that replaying automatically wipes a chapter’s internal state. If the entry remains unavailable or the same crash continues after the Necralisk and Fast Travel workaround, use the game’s normal support channel rather than attempting to alter account data.

Can I replay Prologue to Tau more than once?
Digital Extremes labels the Prologue chapters replayable and permanent. The documented feature is intended for repeated lore runs, although the published notices do not specify a numeric replay limit.

Will replaying mark my account as if I never completed The Hex or The Old Peace?
No. Those quests are prerequisites for opening the Tau Prologue Series, and the replay is described as a lore-only run. Nothing in the official guidance says it reverses either prerequisite’s completion state.
Can I farm the original Prologue reward by replaying?
No. Warframe Support explicitly says a replay does not grant the original quest reward again.
Do I need to wait for another Taubound event?
No. The Prologue is permanently available through the Codex after the prerequisites are complete. The Taubound operation is a separate, non-rerunning event.
Where should I look after a crash?
Restart the game and return to the Codex’s Tau Prologue Series. For the reported Dark Refractory crash, try a Calm Necralisk instance followed by Fast Travel to the Sanctum Anatomica.
