Rob Nelson, Rockstar North’s co-studio head and head of development, said players can rob “pretty much anything” in Grand Theft Auto VI. In the demonstrated example, he robbed a shop selling headphones—but the interview does not confirm that every store or building in the game is a target.
What did Rockstar demonstrate?
During a gameplay demonstration, Nelson entered a shop that sells headphones and described robbing it. He noted that he should have parked a getaway vehicle outside, but had gone in without preparing. The reported full interview transcript records his explanation: “You can rob pretty much anything. So we can go into this place where you buy headphones, for example, and rob it.”
The sequence also showed him locate a safe and find its combination. Nelson said he had an explosive capable of damaging some of the safe’s contents. Police gathered outside, and he escaped through a back door. These details make the claim more concrete than a passing remark, but they describe one demonstrated robbery rather than a complete set of rules for every location.
Does “pretty much anything” mean every store is robbable?
That is not established. “Pretty much anything” is Nelson’s broad description, while the interview’s specific example is the headphone shop. It does not provide an exhaustive list of eligible businesses, buildings, or mission locations, nor does it explain which restrictions may apply.

How do robberies fit into GTA 6?
Nelson characterized robberies as part of the activity players can pursue between story missions. He said the footage included “a couple of robberies” among other open-world activities. In the same interview, he also discussed a Criminal Profile system and a relationship system for Jason and Lucia, and grouped robbing stores and banks among activities the pair can do together. The interview does not lay out the full mechanics of those systems.

When does GTA 6 release, and on which platforms?
Rockstar’s announcement lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a scheduled release date of November 19, 2026. That is the date in the cited announcement; release plans can change. Rockstar Games’ announcement
