You can pursue both Jack and Tali in conversation in Mass Effect 2, but the available route guidance supports only one committed romance per playthrough. If you want to switch from courting Jack to pursuing Tali, choose I only want you
when Tali asks where Shepard stands. To experience both completed romances, use separate playthroughs.
Can Shepard have a committed romance with both Jack and Tali?
No. The route guidance reviewed describes one committed romance at a time in Mass Effect 2. Shepard can flirt with both characters during conversations, but pursuing both does not let you complete both romance routes in the same run. This conclusion is supported by a detailed Tali route guide and community references, not an official BioWare mechanics page. Gamer Guides’ Tali romance guide is specifically for Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition; the finding has not been independently checked for every original platform or modded version.

How to pursue Tali after courting Jack
- Recruit Tali and complete her loyalty mission.
- Continue speaking with her aboard the Normandy as her romance conversations become available.
- If you have been courting Jack or Miranda, Tali will bring up the other relationship. Choose
I only want you
to commit to Tali’s route. The guide identifies this as the choice that continues her romance.
The phrase is an in-game dialogue option, not a quotation attributed to a developer.
What the Jack route requires
Jack’s route has its own progression: recruit her, complete her loyalty mission, and continue the relevant conversations. Her guide describes a confrontation with Miranda, rather than a direct Jack-versus-Tali confrontation. See the Jack romance guide for that route’s steps.

How to experience both romances
Use separate playthroughs: commit to Jack in one run and Tali in another. The guides describe separate character-specific romance progressions and a single committed romance at a time; community answers also support that interpretation. An EA forum discussion and a GameFAQs answer are community sources, not official mechanics documentation.
