Blizzard’s instructions direct players to install Overwatch 2 through Battle.net. Overwatch: Classic lets players revisit some original-era gameplay in limited-time events within Overwatch 2, but it is not presented as a standalone Overwatch 1 download.
Can you download the original Overwatch 1 client?
Blizzard’s current PC installation guidance does not list the original Overwatch 1 as a separate supported client. Its installation instructions cover Overwatch 2 instead. That means the official route described there installs the current game, not the old standalone Overwatch 1 client.

- Install and open the Battle.net desktop app.
- Sign in to your Battle.net account.
- Select Overwatch 2 from the game list.

These are the steps in Blizzard Support’s guide, titled “How to Install Overwatch 2.” They apply to the PC route described by that guide; they do not retrieve the original Overwatch 1 client.
What does Overwatch: Classic include?
Blizzard describes Overwatch: Classic as limited-time events hosted inside Overwatch 2. In its Overwatch: Classic announcement, Blizzard Entertainment says: “Now you’ll be able to relive the nostalgia in a series of new limited-time events in Overwatch 2, where you can experience the original heroes, abilities, and maps in the classic 6v6 team-based action you remember.”

Classic is therefore a way to revisit selected original-era heroes, abilities, maps, and 6v6 gameplay within Overwatch 2. Blizzard does not describe it as a download of the original standalone game.
Can availability differ by region or platform?
Yes. Storefront and account rules are not necessarily the same worldwide. As a Korea-specific example, Nexon’s official service notice says existing Steam users in South Korea could continue playing, but players in Korea could not newly add Overwatch to their Steam libraries starting August 11, 2026. It also says Korean Battle.net PC players needed to link their Battle.net and Nexon accounts to continue after August 12, 2026. Those terms concern South Korea and should not be read as a global restriction.
