Yes. As of October 8, 2026, you can still buy games through the PS Vita’s on-device PlayStation Store in regions where it remains open. Sony has announced that the Vita Store will close in July 2027 in all other countries. You can also look for physical game cards. After a regional store closure, new digital purchases on the Vita will stop, but Sony says previously purchased content will remain downloadable for the foreseeable future, with some limitations.
Can you still buy Vita games digitally?
Yes, if the PS Vita Store is still open in your region. Sony’s July 1, 2026 announcement schedules the Vita Store’s closure for July 2027 in all other countries. Until the applicable closure, purchases are made on the Vita itself—not through the PlayStation website or mobile app. Sony ended Vita purchases on its web and mobile stores on October 19, 2020, while keeping purchases available on the device at that time (Sony’s notice).

Sony’s notice says the earlier 2026 and late-2026 dates apply to the PS3 Store in certain countries, not the Vita Store. Do not treat those PS3 dates as a Vita shutdown schedule.
Payment and account region
Before a regional closure, Sony says purchases on PS3 and Vita devices require funds in the PlayStation wallet; direct credit or debit card and PayPal payments on those devices are unavailable. Sony says PlayStation Store gift cards can be used to add wallet funds (Sony’s payment and closure notice).

The Vita’s Store is tied to the country or region registered to the account: content can only be downloaded from that region’s Store, according to Sony’s Vita user guide. Sony does not publish a title-by-title live catalog in the cited material, so check the Store on your own Vita to see whether a particular game is listed.
Can you still get physical PS Vita games?
Physical Vita game cards are another way to play games, and the Vita system supports inserting a game card (Sony’s guide to game cards). Used copies may be an option, but availability, condition, and price depend on the particular title and seller; current listings were not verified here.

- Check the title and edition, cartridge condition, and whether the listing includes the case or other materials you want.
- Review the seller’s reputation and compare the price with other listings.
- Check whether any add-on you want is separate from the card; do not assume a physical copy includes every add-on or patch.
What happens to games you already bought?
Sony says players can continue to download previously purchased content after the closing date “for the foreseeable future.” That wording is not a guarantee of permanent access. Sony also says you can continue playing owned content subject to each game’s existing online features and service availability (Sony’s support notice).
To find eligible purchases, use the Vita’s Download List. Sony’s redownload guide warns that some content cannot be downloaded again, so do not assume every past purchase will always be available to restore.
