No—not as a currently verified new subscription. Xbox’s U.S. store lists Game Pass Ultimate at $22.99 per month, while GameStop currently lists one month at $22.99 and three months at $68.99. The old $19.99 deal was linked to leftover retailer inventory after the October 2025 price increase. If you already own a genuine, unused $19.99 code, you may still be able to redeem it, subject to its region, activation, validity, and Microsoft’s terms.
What happened to the $19.99 Game Pass Ultimate deal?
The $19.99 price was the former U.S. monthly rate for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. After Microsoft raised the regular price to $29.99 in October 2025, some retailers—including GameStop—reportedly continued selling older cards or subscriptions at the previous price for a limited time.

That was a stock-based opportunity, not a permanent GameStop pricing policy. Microsoft later changed the price again: on April 21, 2026, it reduced Ultimate from $29.99 to $22.99 per month. The current official Xbox U.S. store page and GameStop’s digital-subscriptions listings both show $22.99, not $19.99.

How to subscribe at the current price
Option 1: Buy directly from Xbox
- Open the official Xbox Game Pass Ultimate page.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account connected to your Xbox console or PC.
- Select the monthly Ultimate plan.
- Check the displayed price, taxes, promotional terms, and renewal date.
- Complete payment.
- Open your Microsoft account’s subscription settings and confirm that Ultimate is attached to the intended account.
The subscription generally continues automatically after any introductory or promotional period. The renewal charge may be made at the then-current regular price, not necessarily the price shown in a promotion.
Option 2: Buy a prepaid-style code from GameStop
- Open GameStop’s digital-subscriptions category.
- Search for “Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.”
- Confirm that the item is an Xbox/Microsoft Game Pass subscription rather than an Xbox gift card.
- Check the term length, price, U.S. region, delivery method, and redemption restrictions.
- Purchase the code and follow GameStop’s delivery instructions.
- Redeem it on the Microsoft account you actually use for Xbox.
- Check the account afterward to confirm the new subscription expiration or renewal date.
GameStop Pro is listed at $25 per year, with member discounts shown on the subscription page. Joining solely to save a small amount on one Game Pass purchase is unlikely to make sense; it may be worthwhile if you already use GameStop’s other benefits or expect to make several qualifying purchases.
How to redeem an old $19.99 code
If you bought an old physical or digital card when the $19.99 price was available, the important question is not whether Ultimate has returned to $19.99. It is whether that specific code is unused, genuine, activated by the retailer, valid for your region, and accepted by Microsoft.
- Sign in to the correct Microsoft account.
- Open Microsoft’s current code-redemption page or the redeem-code option in the Xbox or Microsoft account interface.
- Enter the 25-character code.
- Before accepting, check the displayed product, region, and subscription term.
- Confirm the redemption.
- Visit your account’s subscription page and verify the resulting expiration or renewal date.
Do not redeem the code on a different Microsoft account. Game Pass subscriptions generally cannot simply be transferred between accounts.

If the code does not work
- Check for typing errors, especially O/0, I/1, and B/8.
- Confirm that the code matches your account’s country or region.
- Check whether it has already been redeemed.
- Make sure it is an Ultimate code, not a different Game Pass tier or an Xbox gift card.
- Contact the retailer first if the code was never activated at purchase.
- Contact Microsoft Support if the retailer confirms activation but Microsoft rejects the code.
Do not assume that every old code remains valid forever. Expiration, activation, regional, and promotional terms depend on the specific product.
Watch out for recurring billing
Microsoft says recurring billing is generally enabled by default for subscriptions. When it is active, Microsoft charges the account on the renewal date at the then-current price. You can review or change this through your Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions area. Microsoft’s instructions are available on its recurring-billing support page.
Before completing a direct subscription purchase:
- Check whether recurring billing is switched on.
- Record the next billing date and expected price.
- Turn recurring billing off if you only want the initial paid period.
Turning recurring billing off normally does not remove access immediately. You generally keep access until the already-paid period ends. It prevents the next automatic renewal.
If you were charged after forgetting to disable renewal, a refund may be available for a recent recurring charge under Microsoft’s current terms, but it is not automatic. Check the applicable Xbox Game Pass terms and follow Microsoft’s cancellation or refund process.

What does Ultimate include now?
Ultimate currently includes a large game library on Xbox console and PC, cloud gaming—including unlimited Xbox Cloud Gaming under Microsoft’s April 2026 announcement—online console multiplayer, and plan-specific in-game benefits and perks.
Availability is not universal. Games, features, platforms, benefits, and cloud support can vary by country, plan, device, and time. Titles can also leave the library.
There is an important change for Call of Duty players. Microsoft’s April 21, 2026 announcement says future Call of Duty games will no longer be guaranteed to launch in Game Pass Ultimate on day one. Microsoft expects new titles to arrive around the following holiday season, approximately a year after release. This does not mean every Call of Duty game has left Game Pass: existing titles covered by the announcement remain available under its stated policy.

Is Ultimate worth $22.99 per month?
At the current price, Ultimate is most compelling for players who use more than one part of the package:

- You play across Xbox and PC.
- You use cloud gaming.
- You regularly try multiple games each month.
- You need online console multiplayer.
- You value rotating access instead of buying every game individually.
It is a weaker fit if you mainly play one or two purchased games, do not use cloud gaming, do not need online multiplayer, or were subscribing primarily for day-one access to future Call of Duty releases.
Keeping a $22.99 monthly subscription for 12 months costs $275.88 before tax. That is an annualized calculation, not an official annual-plan price. Compare it with the games you would actually play rather than assuming the full library automatically makes the subscription worthwhile.

Use a prepaid term
A legitimate prepaid code can be useful if you want to avoid automatic renewal. Compare the total price with 12 monthly payments, confirm the region and term, and check what happens when the code is applied to an already-active subscription. Microsoft’s conversion or extension result can vary with the current tier and remaining time, so do not assume every code produces a one-to-one month extension.

Choose a lower Game Pass tier
If you do not need Ultimate’s complete mix of console, PC, cloud, multiplayer, and perks, compare the current lower-tier plans on Xbox before subscribing. Prices and benefits change, so use the live plan page rather than an old article or cached comparison.

Buy games individually
If you play only one or two games for most of the year, purchasing them outright can cost less than maintaining a subscription. This is especially relevant if you do not need cloud gaming or a subscription’s online multiplayer benefits.
Do not confuse an Xbox gift card with Game Pass
A gift card funds an Xbox purchase; it does not lock in a $19.99 Game Pass Ultimate rate. For example, GameStop’s $20 Xbox gift card listing is a payment instrument, not an Ultimate subscription.
What to avoid
- Do not rely on an old article claiming GameStop still sells Ultimate for $19.99.
- Do not treat a cached page or search snippet as proof of current stock.
- Do not buy from an unofficial marketplace unless the seller is authorized and the code’s region, activation, validity, and refund terms are clear.
- Do not redeem a code before checking that the displayed account and product are correct.
- Do not assume promotional or prepaid pricing becomes your permanent renewal rate.
Verdict
The old $19.99 Game Pass Ultimate deal is no longer a verified current offer. For U.S. customers, the confirmed price is $22.99 per month through Xbox, with GameStop currently showing the same one-month price and a $68.99 three-month option.
If you already have a legitimate old $19.99 code, redeem it carefully on the correct Microsoft account and verify the result. Otherwise, use the official Xbox store or an authorized retailer, disable recurring billing if you do not want automatic renewal, and subscribe only if Ultimate’s current benefits justify the higher price for the way you play.
