Yes. Existing owners will still be able to play Ultimechs in single-player after Resolution Games ends online multiplayer services on October 20, 2026. Online PvP, co-op, cross-platform matches and match spectating will end, and the game will be delisted from the Steam Store that day.
The important distinction is that delisting removes the storefront listing for new purchases; it does not announce the removal of access for people who already own the game. However, Resolution Games has not confirmed every technical detail of launching, reinstalling or authenticating the game after the shutdown.

What changes on October 20, 2026?
Resolution Games announced on October 8, 2026, that it is retiring Ultimechs’ online multiplayer and moving the game to a single-player-only experience. The company says, “You’ll still be able to jump into the arena and enjoy Ultimechs in single-player mode after multiplayer services end on October 20, 2026.”

That same date applies to the game’s Steam delisting and the retirement of the separate Ultimechs Spectator client. A matching Meta Horizon Store delisting notice has also been reported by VR.org. Delisting and server shutdown are related but different events: the servers stop handling online matches, while the store listing disappears so new customers can no longer acquire the game through that storefront.

Can existing owners keep playing?
Your existing license is not being cancelled
The shutdown announcement explicitly preserves single-player access for existing owners. If Ultimechs is already in your library, the stated plan is that you can continue entering its single-player arena after the online service closes.
This is different from a game that requires an active server for every mode. The multiplayer backend will no longer provide matches, but the developer has said the single-player mode will remain available. The announcement does not say that owners must buy a replacement edition or new hardware.
Delisting does not erase an installed copy
When a game leaves a digital store, its product page and new-purchase option can disappear while an existing account license remains in the owner’s library. Resolution Games’ notice describes Ultimechs as remaining playable for current owners, so the practical priority is to keep the game installed and updated before the delisting date if you want the least disruption.
Do not interpret the disappearance from the Steam Store as a promise that every future reinstall will be frictionless. The announcement confirms continued single-player access, but it does not spell out how a fresh download, account check or platform migration will work after delisting.

“Offline” has not been fully defined
Players often use “offline” to mean that no internet connection is needed at all. Resolution Games confirms continued single-player play, but it does not specify whether the first launch, a reinstall, account authentication, license validation or a later platform update will require an internet connection.
Therefore, the accurate answer to “Does Ultimechs work offline?” is: its single-player mode is scheduled to survive the multiplayer shutdown, but a completely internet-independent build has not been promised. If you plan to play without reliable internet, launch the game while connected before October 20 and keep the working installation on the device.
What happens to multiplayer?
Player-versus-player matches
Online PvP ends when the multiplayer services are retired. A match cannot be created through the former service once the shutdown takes effect, even if the game remains installed and the single-player mode continues to load.
Online co-op and cross-platform play
Online co-op is part of the multiplayer service being removed. Cross-platform multiplayer also disappears because it depends on the same online infrastructure. There is no indication that a local or peer-to-peer replacement will be added.

Final-match timing
If you want one last online match, schedule it before October 20, 2026. The announcement gives the date but not a specific hour or time zone, so do not treat the end of that calendar day as guaranteed availability in your region. Online connectivity can also become unreliable shortly before a planned retirement if the service is being wound down.
What happens to UltiCoins and in-app purchases?
New purchases are already disabled
Resolution Games says in-app purchases have been disabled in preparation for the shutdown. You should not expect to buy additional UltiCoins after that change, whether you intend to use them in multiplayer or single-player.
Existing UltiCoins remain usable
The announcement makes a specific exception for balances already purchased: “You will still be able to spend any UltiCoins you have purchased already, even after multiplayer services have ended.” That means the shutdown date does not automatically invalidate an existing UltiCoin balance.
The statement guarantees the ability to spend previously purchased UltiCoins, but it does not describe every item that will remain available, how the balance is stored, or whether a future reinstall will restore it automatically. Use the balance through the normal in-game systems while your current installation and account are working, and keep records of purchase receipts if you need to resolve an account issue.

What happens to Ultimechs Spectator?
Ultimechs Spectator is a separate client used to watch matches. Resolution Games says it will be delisted alongside the main game on October 20 and “will no longer be able to spectate any matches.” The reason is functional rather than merely storefront-related: once online matches stop, there are no live games for the spectator service to retrieve.
Keeping the Spectator client installed will not preserve match viewing after the shutdown. It should not be treated as a way to access archived games, because the announcement promises neither replay playback nor an archive.
What owners should do before the shutdown
- Play any final online matches before October 20, 2026. Complete PvP, co-op or cross-platform sessions ahead of the retirement date rather than waiting until the final hours.
- Open Ultimechs while connected to the internet. This gives the platform a chance to complete normal license, profile and content checks while the service is still active.
- Install available updates. Keep the main game on the latest version offered to your platform before delisting. Do the same for any content you expect to use in single-player.
- Confirm that single-player loads. Enter a single-player match and verify that the mode you intend to use is available on your headset and account.
- Spend UltiCoins according to your plans. Existing coins remain spendable after multiplayer ends, but new purchases are disabled. Do not spend money expecting to replenish the balance later.
- Keep the game installed if storage allows. An installed and working copy avoids depending immediately on a post-delisting download or an account flow that the announcement has not documented.
- Do not depend on Spectator for future viewing. Watch any match you care about before October 20; the client will not spectate matches afterward.
What to expect after October 20
If the game is already installed
Start Ultimechs normally and select its single-player mode. The supported post-shutdown experience described by the developer is single-player play. Multiplayer menus, matchmaking, invitations and cross-platform sessions should be considered unavailable rather than temporary errors.

A failed online connection after October 20 is not evidence that the entire game has stopped working. Online services are intentionally retired. Test the single-player mode instead; that is the mode Resolution Games has committed to retaining.

If you need to reinstall
The public announcement does not explain the exact reinstall procedure after delisting. An existing owner may still see the game in the platform library, but the company has not promised how download availability, authentication or platform updates will behave in every case. If you need to free storage, weigh that uncertainty before deleting a working installation.
If UltiCoins are missing
Check that you are using the same platform account and game profile associated with the original purchase. Keep purchase records available. The developer’s statement covers the continued spending of previously purchased UltiCoins, but it does not publish a separate recovery process for a balance that fails to appear.
Hardware and platform requirements
Ultimechs remains a VR-only game. The official Steam listing identifies tracked-controller support and both single-player and online features. The shutdown notice does not announce a new headset requirement, a controller change or a hardware upgrade for the surviving single-player mode.

The confirmed point is narrower: the game is still designed for VR, and the developer’s shutdown plan preserves single-player access for existing owners.
How to decide whether to keep Ultimechs installed
Keep the installation if you value the single-player mode, have limited internet access, or want to avoid relying on an uncertain post-delisting reinstall. Removing it may be reasonable if storage is more important and you are comfortable with the possibility that downloading it later could involve additional platform or account requirements.
Keep your expectations separate by feature. The main game has a surviving single-player use case; the online modes do not. An UltiCoin balance can still be spent; new coins cannot be bought. The game may remain in an existing library; the public store listing will not. The Spectator client may remain on a device temporarily, but it will not continue viewing live matches.
The bottom line for owners
Ultimechs is not becoming completely unplayable on October 20, 2026. Resolution Games is ending online multiplayer and delisting the game, while retaining single-player access for existing owners. Install and update the game before the date, play any final online matches in advance, and treat the single-player promise as distinct from a guarantee of completely offline launching or effortless future reinstalls.
