Other legacy cosmetics may be purchasable in the Hero Gallery, while Mythic skins use the Mythic Shop and Mythic Prisms. A particular item’s availability can still depend on its category and the current in-game selection.
Which route applies to the skin you want?

These are different unlock systems, so a skin missing from one route may belong to another—or may not currently be offered.
How to get an old Battle Pass skin
- Open Battle Passes and select Legacy Pass. Blizzard’s October 6, 2026 patch notes say Legacy Seasons 1–15 passes are available through this section.
- Choose the pass that contains the reward. If it is locked, look for it in the shop under the Unvaulted Battle Pass tab.
- Purchase and activate the pass. You must own and activate an Unvaulted Pass before Battle Pass XP counts toward it.
- Earn Battle Pass XP. One Unvaulted Pass can progress alongside the current season’s pass, but only one Unvaulted Pass can be active at once.
Previously earned progress carries over, including free-track progress. If you complete an active Unvaulted Pass, it rolls to the next available one unless you choose another. Once acquired, a pass remains permanently available on your account. These rules are described in Blizzard’s October 6, 2026 patch notes and Season 5 announcement.
Rewards that do not return with Unvaulted Passes
Buying an old pass does not restore every reward from its original version. Blizzard excludes Overwatch Coins, XP boosts, Mythic Prisms, Prestige Titles, and Mythic hero and weapon skins from Unvaulted Passes. In particular, do not expect an old pass purchase to unlock its original Mythic reward.

How to find older non-seasonal and event skins
For a non-seasonal legacy skin, open the relevant hero’s Hero Gallery entry and check the item’s current purchase options. Blizzard’s 2022 explanation of its legacy-content policy said non-seasonal legacy content could be acquired with legacy Overwatch Credits or Overwatch Coins. It described some seasonal event content, such as Summer Games and Lunar New Year cosmetics, as items that might be made available for Coins. That is a broad policy description, not a guarantee that a named skin is available now. See Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 legacy-content explanation.
As historical context, Blizzard said in its February 2023 Season 3 announcement that nearly all Epic and Legendary event hero skins from the original Overwatch—300 in total—had been added to the Hero Gallery and would always be available for purchase with Coins or Credits at that time. That figure describes Blizzard’s 2023 announcement; it is not a current inventory count or a promise about every older cosmetic today. Read the Season 3 announcement.

How to get an old Mythic skin
Mythic skins have a separate system. Check the Mythic Shop for the skin you want and use Mythic Prisms to unlock Mythic skins or their customizations. Blizzard’s Mythic Shop guide says past seasonal Mythics become available two seasons after their debut. The exact Mythics on offer are season-dependent, and Coins and Credits cannot buy Mythic skins or upgrades. - Confirm which category it belongs to: a Battle Pass reward, a Hero Gallery cosmetic, or a Mythic.
- For a Battle Pass reward, check Legacy Pass and the Unvaulted Battle Pass shop tab; for a Mythic, check the Mythic Shop.
- For a Hero Gallery cosmetic, inspect the item’s current availability and listed currency in-game.
- If it is absent, there is no established universal return schedule or guarantee for every individual skin. Check the live client again rather than relying on a predicted date.
Blizzard’s October 6, 2026 patch notes are the latest source here for Unvaulted Pass availability. Shop selections and individual item availability can change, so the game client is the best way to confirm whether a specific skin is currently obtainable.
