Yes. A cloud-hosted streaming service can play uploaded lessons and send them to YouTube Live, so your computer does not need to stay on after setup. Suitable standalone hardware can also send prerecorded video without a computer. If you use an encoder running on your computer, that computer must stay powered on and connected while it streams.

YouTube does not turn an uploaded playlist into an unattended live broadcast by itself. A cloud service, standalone device, or computer encoder must play the material and send the live feed. YouTube describes the encoder’s role this way: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” (YouTube Help)
What to check before you start
- Channel eligibility: YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start (YouTube live-streaming requirements).
- Stream key: YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key to connect the encoder to the Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password and enter it only in the service or device you intend to use (YouTube encoder setup).
- Rights and platform rules: Livestreams must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Using a cloud service or encoder does not give you rights to course materials, music, or other included content (YouTube live-streaming requirements).
- Archive expectations: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that a continuous 24/7 broadcast will be saved as one complete archive. Confirm how your setup handles archives and keep the original lesson files (YouTube encoder guidance).
Set up an unattended cloud stream
- Confirm livestream access. Verify the channel and enable livestreaming in YouTube Studio if this is its first broadcast. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, as YouTube advises (YouTube live-streaming requirements).
- Prepare the lesson videos. Choose the recordings you have permission to broadcast. Decide whether they should play as a playlist or repeat, and check the selected service’s file, schedule, and duration limits.
- Create the YouTube broadcast and connect the encoder. In YouTube’s Live Control Room, follow the encoder workflow to obtain the stream URL and key. Add those credentials in the cloud service or hardware’s setup screen, following its own instructions (YouTube encoder guidance).
- Start and verify the stream. Check the live preview and broadcast status in YouTube before relying on unattended playback. Once a cloud service is playing and transmitting the uploaded lessons, your computer can be off.
- Plan for the end of the broadcast. Decide whether you need a single event, a recurring schedule, or a continuous feed. Check both the provider’s maximum duration and YouTube’s archive behavior; the under-12-hour archive guidance does not promise one complete recording of a 24/7 stream.
When provider limits matter
Vendor limits are not YouTube-wide requirements. For example, OneStream’s help page says its 24/7 feature is YouTube-only, requires an Enterprise plan, and has a 30-day maximum duration; those conditions apply to that feature, not to every cloud streaming service (OneStream Help Center, updated September 3, 2026). Check the current terms for whichever service or device you select. The cited service descriptions do not establish comparative reliability or current pricing for the other providers.

Troubleshooting an unattended lesson stream
The channel will not start a livestream
Check that the channel is verified and has no livestreaming restriction in the prior 90 days. If livestreaming has only just been enabled, YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours (YouTube requirements).
The encoder cannot connect
Recheck the server URL and stream key in the provider or device configuration against the current broadcast in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder connection (YouTube encoder setup).

The broadcast ends before the lessons finish
Check whether the provider imposes a maximum stream duration or schedule limit. For OneStream’s documented 24/7 feature, that limit is 30 days; do not assume the same limit applies to another service (OneStream Help Center).
You cannot find one complete archive afterward
YouTube’s cited automatic-archive guidance covers streams shorter than 12 hours, not a single continuous 24/7 broadcast. Check archive handling before you go live and preserve the source recordings separately (YouTube encoder guidance).
