No. Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack Points belong to the expansion whose booster packs you opened. They cannot be transferred, combined, or converted into points for another expansion.
If you need a card from a different expansion, you must earn that expansion’s Pack Points by opening its packs, or use another in-game acquisition method when one is available. Your existing points do not expire, however, and remain usable even after that expansion’s booster-pack availability period ends.

Pack Points are tied to an expansion, not to the pack-opening system as a whole
Pokémon TCG Pocket does not use one universal Pack Point balance that works across every booster-pack series. Each expansion has its own points associated with it. The expansion code identifies which card pool a balance belongs to. Codes such as A1, A1a, and A2 represent separate expansions, so points earned from one code do not become spending power in another.

Pokémon Support describes the rule directly: opening booster packs of a given expansion earns Pack Points for that expansion, and those points can be exchanged only for cards that appear in that expansion. In practical terms, the relevant question is not simply how many points you have. It is which expansion generated them.

This separation is important when you are collecting across several sets. A balance associated with A1 is reserved for cards in A1. A balance associated with A1a is reserved for cards in A1a. Neither balance is a general currency that can be redirected to the other set.

The table uses the expansion codes cited in Pokémon’s support material as examples; it is not a complete list of every expansion. The governing rule is the same for any expansion: points stay with the set that awarded them.
Why a transfer or conversion option does not work
There is no official cross-expansion transfer, exchange, or conversion rate. A point balance cannot be sent to another set, merged with another set’s balance, or exchanged for a newly released expansion’s points. This is a restriction on what the points can purchase, not a temporary shop condition.

Imagine that you opened A1 packs and saved enough A1 Pack Points for a missing card. If you later decide that an A2 card is more useful, your A1 balance does not pay for it. The A2 card belongs to a different redemption pool, so you need A2 points instead.

The same applies to a smaller expansion such as A1a. Having points in A1 does not make cards in A1a eligible, even though the codes may look related and the sets may have been released in a similar period. The code is the boundary that determines eligibility.
Switching between packs does not switch the balance
Opening a different pack type changes which expansion can award your next points; it does not re-label points you already earned. If you move from one expansion to another, your earlier balance remains attached to the earlier set while any new balance belongs to the new set.
There is therefore no benefit in looking for a hidden conversion ratio. Pokémon’s published rule does not establish one because the transfer itself is not supported.
What to do when you want a card from a newer expansion
When your target card is outside the expansion that supplied your current points, treat the problem as a new earning goal rather than a balance-transfer problem.

- Identify the target card’s expansion. Confirm the expansion code shown for the card you want. The code determines which Pack Point balance can redeem it.
- Check your balance for that code. Points from another set cannot be applied, even if you have enough total points across all sets combined.
- Open packs from the target expansion to earn its points. Pokémon Support states that opening packs of a given expansion earns points for that expansion.
- Use another in-game acquisition method if one is available. Pack Points are one way to choose missing cards; the game may offer other acquisition methods depending on the current content and event rules.
- Keep the older balance for a card in its own set. There is no need to spend it quickly merely because you have started collecting a newer expansion.
This approach prevents a common mistake: adding all of your displayed points together and assuming the total can buy any card. The balances are meaningful only within their own expansion.
Do Pack Points expire when a booster pack leaves the shop?
No. Pack Points do not expire. Pokémon Support’s Gameplay FAQ gives that answer without limiting it to a particular expansion or release window.
A separate official notice about Deluxe Pack: ex explains the timing more specifically: Pack Points obtained from all booster packs, including Deluxe Pack: ex, will not expire and remain available for exchange even after the booster pack’s availability period ends.

- Pack availability ending: You may no longer be able to open that booster pack during the relevant availability period.
- Point expiration: The points you already earned remain available for exchange and do not disappear simply because the pack is no longer available.
The end of a pack’s availability period also does not make its points transferable. An A1 balance remains an A1 balance after the pack period ends. It stays usable for eligible A1 cards rather than changing into A2, A1a, or another future expansion.

Because points are permanent but restricted to one set, the useful planning question is which card in that set you want to secure. Saving is reasonable when you are close to the cost of a specific missing card, when you are building a deck that depends on a particular card, or when you want to finish a collection within that expansion.
Save for a defined card goal
Record the expansion code along with the card you are targeting. “I have Pack Points” is incomplete information; “I have A1 points reserved for an A1 card” is actionable. This simple distinction helps prevent spending a balance while assuming it can later be redirected.

Separate balances mentally when collecting multiple sets
If you collect A1, A1a, and A2 at the same time, treat them as three accounts. A large total across the three sets does not create flexibility between them. Track each expansion’s points independently and compare each balance only with cards in that same expansion.

Do not rush because of a closure notice
A notice that a booster pack’s availability period is ending can create pressure to spend immediately. The official expiration rule removes that pressure: points remain redeemable after the period ends. You can still reserve them for an eligible card in that expansion rather than spending on a less important option simply to avoid losing the balance.
Common situations and the correct result

What Pack Points are designed to do
Pokémon’s official guide presents Pack Points as an in-game way to choose missing cards from a set and finish a collection or deck. Their purpose is targeted completion within an expansion, not unrestricted purchasing across the catalog.
This design gives each expansion its own completion path. Opening packs from a set builds access to that set’s cards through its points, while a different set requires progress through its own packs or another currently available in-game method. The system can therefore help fill a specific gap without turning progress in one expansion into progress in every expansion.
Bottom line for players moving between expansions
Keep three rules in mind:
- Pack Points are expansion-specific.
- They cannot be transferred, converted, or shared between expansion codes.
- They do not expire, including after the related booster pack’s availability period ends.
So if your missing card is in a different expansion, earn that expansion’s points rather than searching for a transfer setting. If your concern is an older balance, you can keep it: it remains redeemable for cards from its own expansion.
