Usually, no. Sony’s current published support policy says you cannot transfer save data from the PS4 or PS5 version of a PlayStation Studios game to its PC version, and you cannot send a PC save back to a console. A PS4-to-PS5 transfer feature does not change that rule. For a Sony game on PC, plan to begin a separate save unless that particular title later announces an exception.
Mods and ultrawide displays are separate questions. Sony does not advertise one universal mod platform for its PC catalog, and the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered PC license specifically withholds permission for unauthorized mods. Display support is decided game by game: The Last of Us Part I supports 21:9 and 32:9 monitors, while Horizon Forbidden West supports 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9 layouts, including triple-monitor setups.

Can a PS4 save be moved to a Sony game on PC?
Sony’s current PlayStation PC support statement is unambiguous:
“It is currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version of a PlayStation Studios title, or vice versa.”

That covers the normal situation for Sony-published PlayStation Studios releases on PC, including a PC remaster or port of a game you played on PS4. Your console save remains on the console ecosystem. Installing the PC edition, signing in with the same account, or owning the game on both platforms does not create a documented import path.
What happens when you buy the PC version?
Expect the PC edition to create its own save files. You will need to replay the campaign, rebuild collectibles and upgrades, and make any story or difficulty choices again. Cloud synchronization offered by a PC storefront can protect the PC save across computers, but it does not convert a PS4 save into a compatible PC save.
Does the same rule apply in the other direction?
Yes. Sony’s wording covers both directions. A save made on PC cannot be transferred back to the PS4 or PS5 version through an official Sony workflow. Treat the PC and console editions as separate save environments unless the game’s own support page announces a specific exception.

Sony documents console-to-console migration separately from PC support. Its supported examples include moving a PS4 system’s data to a PS5 and transferring data between PS5 consoles. PlayStation Plus cloud storage can also be used to download an eligible console save to another console signed in to the same account.
Those workflows do not imply that a PC build can read the same save. A PS4 save may be transferable to a PS5 edition while remaining unusable by the PC edition. The platform, executable, save format and publisher’s support policy all matter.
Use this rule when checking a game listing
- Console-to-console language: “PS4 to PS5 transfer” describes a console migration, not PC compatibility.
- PC cross-save language: Look for an explicit statement that PS4 or PS5 saves can be imported into the PC version. Without that statement, assume they cannot.
- Cloud-save language: A cloud save tied to a PC launcher normally synchronizes PC saves with other PCs using that launcher; it is not evidence of console-to-PC conversion.
Is there an exception for a particular remaster?
Sony’s general policy is the safe baseline, but a publisher can announce a title-specific feature later. An exception would need to be documented for that exact game and version. Look for an official support article, launch FAQ or patch note that names the console edition and the PC edition and describes an import process.
Do not treat any of the following as proof of compatibility:

- A third-party utility claims to convert or edit saves.

If no title-specific notice exists, back up your PS4 save for console play and start a new PC save. Keeping the old console save is important because an attempted conversion or overwrite cannot be assumed to be reversible.
Does Sony officially support mods on PC?
There is no universal, Sony-supported mod framework advertised for the PlayStation Studios PC catalog in the cited official materials. Individual games may attract community-made modifications, but community activity is not the same as publisher support, an in-game mod browser or a guarantee that a mod is legal, safe or maintained.
What the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered license says
The Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Steam EULA says the license does not include the right to “modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software,” create derivative works, or “create or make available unauthorized mods” without express prior written consent.
That language is a restriction in the game’s license, not an endorsement of a modding ecosystem. It means you should read the EULA that applies to the particular PC release before installing or distributing a modification. A mod found on a community site may exist technically while still falling outside the rights granted by the license.

Why unofficial mods can be troublesome
- Updates can break them: A game patch can change files or interfaces that a mod depends on.
- Support may be limited: The publisher’s support team may ask you to remove modifications before troubleshooting.
- Online or shared features can be affected: A modification can cause crashes, corrupted saves or unexpected behavior, especially when it changes game data.
- Permission is not automatic: A download being publicly available does not establish that the author has permission to redistribute game assets or that the publisher has approved it.
Keep separate backups of unmodified PC saves before experimenting. If a patched game stops launching, remove the modification, verify or repair the installation through the storefront, and restore the clean backup if necessary. Those are general recovery precautions; they do not turn an unofficial mod into an officially supported feature.
Which Sony PC games support 21:9, 32:9 or triple monitors?
Ultrawide support is title-specific. Sony’s official The Last of Us Part I PC page states that PC players have “Ultra-Wide Monitor Support for both 21:9 Ultrawide and 32:9 Super Ultrawide aspect ratios.” Sony’s Horizon Forbidden West PC announcement says gameplay supports 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide and 48:9 resolutions, with compatibility for triple-monitor setups.
| Game | 21:9 | 32:9 | 48:9 / triple monitors | What is established |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Last of Us Part I (PC) | Supported | Supported | Not stated | Sony’s PC page explicitly advertises both ultrawide ratios. |
| Horizon Forbidden West (PC) | Supported | Supported | Supported | Sony’s announcement explicitly includes 48:9 and triple-monitor compatibility. |
| Other Sony PC titles | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | Check the exact game’s official feature list; catalog-wide support is not established. |
What “supported” should mean in practice
An advertised aspect ratio tells you that the game is designed to render gameplay at that shape. It does not automatically guarantee that every menu, cutscene, photo mode, pre-rendered video or cinematic uses the full width. Those details must be confirmed on the individual game page or in technical documentation.

Likewise, a game that supports 21:9 does not necessarily support 32:9, and 32:9 support does not necessarily extend to a 48:9 triple-screen arrangement. Do not infer one from another.
How to choose a PC remaster when save continuity matters
Use the following checks before purchasing or reinstalling a game. They separate the three issues that are often incorrectly treated as one feature.
- Identify the exact editions. Write down the PS4 or PS5 version you own and the PC edition you are considering. A remaster, remake and original port can have different policies.
- Check the game’s official support text. Search for an explicit save-import statement naming the console and PC versions. If it only discusses PS4-to-PS5 migration, it does not answer the PC question.
- Confirm the display ratios. Look for 21:9, 32:9, 48:9 or triple-monitor wording. “Ultrawide” without a ratio is less useful when you are choosing a specific monitor.
- Read the license and feature list. Determine whether mods are officially supported, merely tolerated by a community, or restricted by the EULA. Also note advertised graphics settings, upscaling, frame-rate options and input support.
- Plan your saves. Back up the console save for continued PS4 or PS5 play, then assume the PC campaign will start separately unless an official exception is documented.
- Match the monitor to the game and hardware. A wide display increases the number of pixels the graphics card must render. Check the PC requirements published for the specific game before buying a 32:9 or triple-monitor setup.
Common situations and the correct answer
“I own the PS4 disc and bought the PC version on Steam. Can I continue?”
Not through Sony’s documented transfer policy. Disc ownership and account ownership do not create a PS4-to-PC save bridge. Start a PC save unless that game announces a named exception.
“My PS4 save is in PlayStation Plus cloud storage. Can I download it on PC?”
PlayStation Plus cloud downloads are described as part of console workflows. They do not establish that the PC edition can read the downloaded file. Use the console cloud save on a compatible console and treat the PC save as separate.
“A mod exists online. Is it approved?”
No conclusion of approval follows from availability. Check the game’s license and any publisher statement. For Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the cited EULA requires express prior written consent for unauthorized mods.

“Will every Sony PC remaster fill my 32:9 monitor?”
No. The Last of Us Part I is an example with explicit 32:9 support, while other titles may list only 16:9 or provide different options. Verify the exact game page before buying the display.
“Can I connect three monitors to Horizon Forbidden West?”
Yes, Sony’s PC announcement explicitly lists 48:9 gameplay and compatibility with triple-monitor setups. You still need a system that meets the game’s published hardware requirements and a display configuration capable of presenting that resolution.
What to expect before you switch from console to PC
The most reliable expectation is a fresh PC progression, no universal official mod layer, and display features that vary by title. Preserve the console save if you may return to the PS4 or PS5 version. For mods, treat community downloads as unsupported unless the game’s own documentation says otherwise. For ultrawide monitors, use the exact aspect-ratio and resolution language on the game’s official PC page rather than assuming that a Sony release shares features with another one.
