Yes—but the method SEGA documents is a Debug-menu workaround for a specific version, not a confirmed procedure for every release of Sonic Adventure. In that version, unlock the hidden Level Select, enter two Sound Test codes, then collect at least 50 Rings and double-tap Jump to transform. SEGA Support’s instructions say Rings drain during the transformation.
How to unlock Super Sonic
SEGA’s support instructions describe this sequence for the version covered by its article. The steps use touch-screen controls, so first check that your release has the same interface; the sequence is not established for every platform or edition.

- Start a game using No Save.
- At the SEGA logo, tap S, then E, then G, then A, until you hear a ring chime.
- After the chime, press and hold the bottom half of the screen with two fingers until the intro ends. This opens the hidden Level Select menu.
- Set Max Emeralds to 7.
- In Sound Test, play 04, 01, 02, 06. Wait for the confirmation chime.
- Enter 01, 09, 09, 01, 00, 06, 02, 03. Wait for the second confirmation chime.
- Select any level from Level Select.
These unlock inputs and menu labels are from SEGA Support, updated October 3, 2025.
How to transform and stay Super Sonic
Once in a level, collect at least 50 Rings, then double-tap Jump to activate Super Sonic. Rings are gradually consumed while the form is active. When they run out, Sonic returns to normal; collect at least 50 Rings again to transform again, according to SEGA’s instructions.

- Over 60 unique missions, some for each character -- complete them all to unlock all kinds of wild game secrets
- Round up and interact with the little creatures in the Chao Gardens to open up new levels & challenges
Does the method work in every Sonic Adventure version?
That is not established by the available official instructions. SEGA’s game listing distinguishes the original Sonic Adventure—released December 23, 1998, for Dreamcast, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360—from Sonic Adventure DX, released June 19, 2003, for GameCube, Windows PC, Steam, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The same listing confirms that multiple editions and platforms exist, but does not say that the support article’s touch-screen Debug-menu steps work on all of them. SEGA’s Sonic Adventure game entry provides the release and platform details.
SEGA describes Super Sonic as not an official character in the version addressed by the support article; the article presents the Debug-menu method as a workaround. Treat its inputs as version-specific rather than a general rule for the series. If your release lacks the touch-screen controls or the described Level Select and Sound Test options, these directions do not confirm a compatible method for that release.
