One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchNo built-in setting that turns off all gore in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is documented in the sources reviewed. Blood, dismemberment and gory cutscenes are part of the game’s content. A graphics setting can reduce how far away blood decals are visible, while a PC mod offers a narrower option for hit-based dismemberment.
Can you disable blood and dismemberment with an in-game setting?
The available official PC manual describes options in the main and pause menus, but does not document a universal gore-off control. The ESRB rating summary identifies blood and gore, intense violence, decapitations and dismemberment, as well as gory cutscenes; the game is rated M for Mature 17+.
That means you should not assume a menu option can remove all blood, dismemberment and violent scenes. The manual evidence is specific to its documented PC controls, and does not establish that every platform or game version has identical menus.
What does the Detail Level setting change?
NVIDIA’s technical guide says Detail Level affects the distance at which blood splatter and other combat decals can be seen. Lowering it can make decals disappear sooner as they get farther from the camera; it does not turn decals off altogether or disable dismemberment.

Does the Japanese version have less gore?
Yes, in specific respects. Japanese publisher Spike Chunsoft says its version changes some human dismemberment imagery and exposed-organ depictions. It also says human dismemberment is still possible, and monster dismemberment is unchanged. These are regional edits, not settings available in other versions. See the publisher’s Japanese-version information.

The Nexus Mods listing for More Dismemberment – Remastered describes a setting that can make the chance of dismemberment from hits “None” in the Remastered PC version. The listing says this does not affect finishers, so it is not a complete gore filter. It is a third-party mod, not an official game setting; check the mod’s current requirements and compatibility for your game version before installing it.
