Milestone’s August 31, 2026 patch notes list other gameplay and system changes, but no right-stick toggle. The game does offer customizable controls and adjustable sensitivity for each stick, though the official descriptions do not establish that either option disables drifting.
What the latest Screamer update changes
Milestone’s official Screamer page lists an update dated August 31, 2026. Its notes include character balancing, a change to the menu shown on first boot, steering-wheel force-feedback behavior, and console responsiveness. They do not mention right-stick drifting or a new option to disable the right stick. The notes say Aisha’s ability now recharges after 45 seconds.
That 45-second recharge is one patch specification, not evidence of a change to the game’s stick controls. An earlier Milestone patch article dated April 7, 2026 lists PS5 version 01.003.000; that version number belongs to the earlier patch, not the August update: Milestone’s Screamer updates.
What the right stick does in Screamer
Milestone describes Screamer’s Twin Stick controls this way: “steer with the left stick, drift with the right.” In that context, “right-stick drifting” means the game action assigned to the right stick—not necessarily a controller fault.
#1 Best Overall
- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
The US English PlayStation Store listing for Screamer on PS5 says controls can be customized and that horizontal and vertical sensitivity can be adjusted for each stick. These are documented control options, but the listing does not confirm a dedicated switch to turn off drifting, nor does it establish that sensitivity or remapping disables the action in every game mode. No exact in-game settings path for doing so is confirmed in the official material cited here.
In-game drifting and physical stick drift are different problems
If you mean that Screamer drifts when you use the right stick, you are asking about the game’s control scheme. Customization and sensitivity adjustments may help tailor input, but the official descriptions do not verify a way to remove the drift action altogether.

- Ultra Customizable Controls
- Mappable Back Buttons
- DualSense Wireless Controller Features Built In
- Replaceable Stick Modules and Caps
If your DualSense registers movement while the stick is untouched, that is a separate controller-input issue. Milestone’s patch notes do not claim to repair controller hardware, and the game’s control description is not a diagnosis of a DualSense problem. The August update therefore should not be treated as a fix for physical stick drift.
Other control and accessibility options
In an accessibility article dated July 14, 2026, Milestone lists full control remapping, one-handed controls, mouse and keyboard support on console, adjustable offline gameplay speed, text and readability options, color options, subtitles, and audio options: Milestone’s Screamer information. The article establishes that these broader options exist, but it does not provide a confirmed procedure for disabling right-stick drifting.
