Yes, but not through an official PC setting. The Order: 1886 has no documented Sony or Ready at Dawn Windows release with a supported 60 FPS toggle. On PC, higher frame rates are possible through an experimental community-made Windows port or experimental PS4 emulation. Neither route guarantees a perfectly locked, universally stable 60 FPS. A separate PS4 60 FPS patch also has documented quick-time-event softlocks in Chapters 6 and 9.
The short answer is that removing the original 30 FPS limit requires unofficial software. The most direct Windows-native option is a community port that includes an explicitly experimental 60 FPS patch. The other route is running the PS4 version through an experimental emulator and applying compatible patches. Console users with a jailbroken PS4 can use a maintained 60 FPS patch definition, but that is a different setup from ordinary Windows play.

Is there an official 60 FPS PC version?
No documented official Sony or Ready at Dawn Windows release provides a supported frame-rate switch for The Order: 1886. The original game was designed around a 30 FPS presentation, so a standard PC installation cannot simply expose a hidden 60 FPS option. Any PC result above 30 FPS comes from community software, emulation, executable changes or patches.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThat distinction matters because unofficial frame-rate work can affect game timing, presentation, compatibility and scripted events. A higher number in a performance overlay does not by itself prove that every cutscene, quick-time event and gameplay system behaves correctly.

Which PC route can reach 60 FPS?
| Route | How it works | What 60 FPS means in practice | Main limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Community native Windows port | An experimental patch changes frame-time constants in the port’s 01.02 executable and applies presentation and frame-limit overrides. | Designed to present at up to 60 Hz. The project’s sample prologue run averaged about 57 FPS, not a perfect lock. | Build-specific crashes, dips and compatibility issues remain possible. |
| Experimental PS4 emulation | The PS4 version runs inside an emulator, with performance patches and shader compilation handled by the emulator and its current build. | Results range widely by hardware, scene, emulator revision, shader state and patch. Anecdotal reports include more than 200 FPS in an opening test and roughly 60–84 FPS in a city sequence. | Performance and compatibility can change substantially between builds and scenes. |
| PS4 60 FPS patch | A maintained console patch definition unlocks the frame rate on compatible jailbroken-PS4 setups. | Relevant primarily to PS4 owners, or to an emulator that supports the same patch format. | Documented softlocks occur in Chapter 6 and Chapter 9 quick-time events while the patch is enabled. |
For a Windows player choosing between the first two routes, the native port is the simpler concept: it runs as a Windows build rather than translating PS4 instructions in real time. Emulation can be faster on suitable hardware, but it is more sensitive to emulator revisions, shader caches and scene complexity.
How the native Windows 60 FPS patch works
Executable changes
The community port’s repository documents a “Frame Rate Patch – 60 FPS (experimental).” For the 01.02 executable, it changes four frame-time constants from 33,333 microseconds to 16,667 microseconds. Those values correspond to the frame intervals for 30 and 60 frames per second. The patch then uses presentation and frame-limit overrides so the game can present at up to 60 Hz.
The project states that game speed remains correct against a 30 FPS run. That is important: a safe unlock should increase the number of displayed frames without making movement, animation or scripted timing run twice as fast. “Correct” here means the project’s own compatibility claim, not an independent certification of every scene or mod combination.

Configuration exposed by the current build
The port also exposes two environment variables:
THEORDER_FLIP_RATEcontrols the presentation-flip behavior used by the launcher and port.THEORDER_FPS_LIMITsets the requested frame limit.
The repository’s example uses THEORDER_FLIP_RATE=0 and THEORDER_FPS_LIMIT=60. Its launcher logic also uses an engine_fps=120 configuration value for the 60 FPS patch. These are configuration details for that current community build, not universal settings that every fork, executable or launcher will understand. If your build documents different names or defaults, follow that build’s instructions instead of copying variables blindly.

A reversible installation approach
- Identify the executable version. Confirm that your native-port build uses the 01.02 executable targeted by the patch. A patch aimed at a different revision can fail to apply or alter the wrong code.
- Make a clean backup. Copy the original executable and configuration files to a separate folder before changing anything. Keep the backup outside the game’s installation directory so an update cannot overwrite both copies.
- Use the matching patch release. Download the frame-rate patch from the community project associated with your exact port build. Do not mix files from unrelated forks or old revisions.
- Apply the patch once. Follow the project’s supplied launcher or patch procedure. Avoid stacking multiple frame-rate hacks that each modify timing or presentation.
- Set the documented limits. If your build uses the repository’s example, set
THEORDER_FLIP_RATE=0andTHEORDER_FPS_LIMIT=60, with the documentedengine_fps=120launcher value. Use the syntax required by your operating system and launcher. - Test before committing to a playthrough. Run the opening and a busy combat or city scene. Check both the displayed FPS and frame-time consistency, then test a quick-time event. Keep the unmodified backup available until the patched build has passed those checks.
What performance should you expect?
The project’s published sample is useful as a reality check rather than a guarantee. In a 240-second prologue run on an RTX 5060 Laptop, the port averaged about 57 FPS overall. Five-second windows ranged from 41 to 60 FPS when the GPU command thread became busy. Those are project-reported measurements on one setup, not an independent benchmark or a minimum hardware requirement.
Consequently, “60 FPS patch” describes the target and cap, not a promise that every frame arrives in 16.667 milliseconds. A 57 FPS average can still feel good if frame times are stable, while a nominal 60 FPS readout with periodic long frames can feel uneven. Compare short busy sections as well as the opening, and judge consistency rather than the highest number shown by an overlay.
Can PS4 emulation run The Order: 1886 at 60 FPS?
Experimental PS4 emulation can run the game above its original 30 FPS in some configurations, but there is no universal 60 FPS result. Reports vary with emulator build, processor and graphics hardware, scene complexity, shader compilation and the exact patch in use. One technical report describes results above 200 FPS in an opening test, while another setup saw roughly 60–84 FPS near a city sequence. Those observations are anecdotal and setup-specific; they should not be treated as a required specification or a locked target.

Why the same emulator can show different numbers
- Emulator revision: instruction translation and rendering changes can improve or regress performance between builds.
- Scene load: a quiet opening area can be much lighter than a city sequence with many effects, characters and streaming tasks.
- Shader state: first-run shader compilation can create stutter that diminishes after the relevant shaders are cached.
- Patch behavior: a frame-rate patch can remove the original limit without making emulation itself faster.
- Frame pacing: a high instantaneous FPS does not guarantee even delivery of frames or correct timing in scripted events.
A cautious emulation workflow
- Use your own legally dumped game and required system software. Emulation does not remove copyright restrictions, and the emulator cannot supply a lawful game copy for you.
- Start with a current, documented emulator build. Record the build number and graphics settings so you can reproduce a working configuration after an update.
- Run an unmodified baseline. Confirm that the game boots and that shaders finish compiling before adding a 60 FPS patch. This separates emulator problems from patch problems.
- Add one compatible frame-rate patch. Keep the patch in a separate profile or folder so it can be disabled without rebuilding the entire setup.
- Test several scenes. Measure the opening, a demanding city section and a quick-time event. Do not rely on one unusually light area.
- Keep shader caches and settings stable while testing. Changing render back ends or deleting caches can make a later run appear slower or more stuttery even when the patch is unchanged.
Whether the emulator is called shadPS4 or another PS4 project, the same qualification applies: compatibility and frame pacing depend on the particular revision and configuration. A report that one build reaches 60 FPS does not establish that every current build does so.

What is the PS4 60 FPS patch, and why can it break the game?
The maintained Illusion PS4 patch definition includes a “60 FPS Unlock.” Its compatibility note gives a specific warning: “Softlocks will occur in Chapter 6 and 9 during Quick Time Events. Disable patch to progress.” This is the clearest documented gameplay risk associated with the unlock.
A softlock means the event can no longer advance, leaving you unable to continue normally. The practical workaround is to keep the patch reversible, disable it before the affected quick-time events in Chapters 6 and 9, complete those sequences at the original timing, and re-enable the patch only if your build allows safe continuation afterward. Make a manual save before each chapter transition so you can recover without replaying a large section.
This patch is most relevant to a jailbroken PS4 or an emulator that supports the same patch format. It is not a replacement for the native Windows-port patch, and installing it does not automatically make a normal retail PC copy run at 60 FPS.

Separate the cap from performance
An unlocked cap allows the engine or emulator to render more than 30 frames; it does not guarantee that your hardware can sustain 60. Test with the limit set to 60 and observe both the ceiling and the lows. If the result repeatedly sits near 30, the patch may not be active or the build may still be using its original presentation path. If it moves between 41 and 60 in heavy scenes, that is a performance limitation rather than proof that the patch failed.

Check timing and gameplay
- Movement and animation should not run at double speed compared with a 30 FPS run.
- Cutscenes and transitions should complete instead of hanging.
- Quick-time prompts should accept input normally, especially before Chapters 6 and 9.
- Frame delivery should remain reasonably even during combat and streaming-heavy scenes.
If game speed is wrong, restore the original executable or disable the patch first. A mismatched executable revision, overlapping timing hack or unsupported fork is more likely than a problem with the display itself.

The game stays at 30 FPS
Confirm that the patch targets your exact executable revision and that the launcher actually reads the environment variables. Remove conflicting limiters, restart the launcher after changing variables, and test again. If the port still presents at 30 FPS, restore the backup and consult the documentation for that specific fork rather than forcing values from another build.
FPS reaches 60 but feels uneven
Look for GPU or command-thread saturation in demanding scenes. The native-port sample itself dropped to short windows of 41 FPS when the GPU command thread became busy. On an emulator, finish shader compilation and keep the render configuration fixed before comparing runs. A lower, stable limit can feel smoother than an unstable attempt to hold 60, but the exact limiter available depends on the build.
The game crashes after patching
Undo the modification and restore the clean executable. Verify the 01.02 requirement, remove other executable mods, and retest with only the documented frame-rate change. Build-specific crashes are a known possibility for experimental software, so preserving an untouched copy is more useful than repeatedly layering patches.

A quick-time event will not progress
On the PS4 60 FPS patch route, disable the patch before the Chapter 6 or Chapter 9 quick-time events, then reload a save from before the event if necessary. Do not assume that lowering the limit while leaving the patch enabled will clear the softlock; the documented workaround is to disable the patch.
Which option should a PC player choose?
| Choose this route when… | Why | Accept these trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| You want the most straightforward Windows-native setup. | The community port includes a purpose-built experimental 60 FPS patch and explicit presentation and limit controls. | Average performance can be below 60, and stability depends on the port build. |
| You already maintain a PS4 emulation setup and are comfortable testing revisions. | You can experiment with patches, shader caches and renderer settings, and some reports exceed 60 FPS. | Results vary sharply by scene and emulator state; no universal hardware target is established. |
| You play on a compatible jailbroken PS4. | The maintained console patch provides a direct 60 FPS unlock. | Chapter 6 and Chapter 9 quick-time events can softlock until the patch is disabled. |
For most PC readers, the native port is the easier first experiment because its patch and configuration are designed for Windows. Emulation is worthwhile when you already have a legal PS4 dump, understand emulator troubleshooting and are willing to accept changing compatibility. In either case, keep the 30 FPS build available for sections that expose timing or script problems.
Bottom line
You can play The Order: 1886 above 30 FPS on PC, but only through unofficial community software or experimental PS4 emulation. The native port’s 60 FPS patch changes 30 FPS timing constants and can present at up to 60 Hz, yet its own sample averaged about 57 FPS and dipped to 41 FPS in busy windows. Emulation may perform better or worse depending on its build, hardware, shaders and scene. The PS4 unlock has the most explicit compatibility warning: disable it for the Chapter 6 and Chapter 9 quick-time events or risk a softlock.
