What “every ending” means in Tenebris Somnia
Tenebris Somnia has two endings with documented routes: Solve et Coagula and Magnum Opus. Their branch is decided late in the story, after you obtain the Aurifer Knife. That timing makes a single-playthrough clear practical: you do not need to replay the earlier puzzles, exploration, or boss encounters. Instead, create a manual save before making the first relevant Relicta decision, finish one route, and reload to take the other.

There is one important qualification. Prima Games reports that New Game+ contains two additional endings, for four total, but does not name those endings or provide their unlock conditions. The two detailed walkthroughs covering the branch explain only the two main endings. Consequently, the evidence supports unlocking both documented main endings in one story playthrough, not a guaranteed method for all four endings mentioned in the New Game+ claim.

Your critical save is made after the Aurifer Knife is created and before you leave the area. The sequence below is the complete documented method.

- Play through the story normally. Complete the required knife transformations until the Aurifer Knife is created. Earlier dialogue choices are not identified as a separate ending trigger in the documented guides.
- Use the nearby Save Point immediately. Make a manual save while you are still in the area where the Aurifer is created. This is your branch backup; do not overwrite it with a later save.
- Take the Solve et Coagula route first. After obtaining the Aurifer, do not kill any Relicta with it. The ghosts flee, so avoid them and continue onward to Septimo Arte. This path leads to the Lacuna final encounter.
- Finish the story and watch the credits. Completing the first route does not consume the backup save.
- Reload the Aurifer save. Return to the manual save made before leaving the Aurifer area. You should be back at the same late-game decision point rather than at the beginning of the game.
- Take the Magnum Opus route. On the reloaded run, kill one Relicta with the Aurifer, then continue to Septimo Arte. This branch leads to the Hermes final encounter.
One Relicta kill is sufficient for the second branch. Killing additional Relicta does not change the documented branch once that condition has been met, so there is no reason to risk extra combat or consume resources after the route is set.

The labels “good” and “bad” describe how the walkthroughs classify the outcomes; they are not a claim that every player will interpret the story identically. The mechanical distinction is the Relicta decision after the Aurifer, followed by a different final encounter.

The documented branch does not depend on a long chain of earlier conversation choices. The decisive action happens after the Aurifer is obtained. Saving at that point preserves almost all of your completed progress while keeping both outcomes available.

The reload replaces a second full run
Without a backup save, seeing both outcomes would require replaying the preceding story sections. With the Aurifer save, you complete one ending, reload, change the Relicta action, and travel through the late-game route again. The method is therefore a single story playthrough with a late-game reload, not two independent campaigns.
Use separate save slots if available
The safest practice is to keep the Aurifer backup in its own slot and save completed endings elsewhere. If the game permits multiple manual slots, label the backup clearly—for example, “Aurifer branch”—and do not overwrite it after choosing either outcome. If only one slot is available, avoid saving after the branch until you have seen the ending you want and confirmed that the earlier backup can still be reloaded.
Step-by-step route details
Setting up Solve et Coagula
- Create the Aurifer Knife through the normal knife-transformation progression.
- Save at the nearby Save Point before leaving the area.
- Do not use the Aurifer to kill a Relicta. The documented route says the ghosts flee; let them go rather than pursuing them.
- Continue to Septimo Arte and follow the route to the Lacuna encounter.
- Complete the encounter and the ending sequence, then return to the title screen or menu so you can reload the preserved save.
Setting up Magnum Opus
- Load the manual save made immediately after the Aurifer was created.
- During the Relicta sequence, kill one Relicta with the Aurifer.
- Do not assume that killing more will unlock a different result; the documented condition is already satisfied by one kill.
- Continue to Septimo Arte and proceed to the Hermes encounter.
- Finish the ending sequence to see Magnum Opus.
Common mistakes and recovery
You saved too late
If your only save is after the first Relicta decision, the earlier branch may no longer be available from that file. Check every manual and autosave slot before restarting. If no pre-decision save exists, the reliable recovery is to replay until the Aurifer is created and establish the backup correctly.

You killed a Relicta by accident
Reload the Aurifer save before continuing. The branch is tied to the post-Aurifer Relicta action, so returning to that save is more dependable than trying to reverse the result with later choices.
You avoided all Relicta but reached the unexpected route
Verify that the Aurifer was the weapon used for the relevant interaction and that the save was made after the knife was created. The documented rule is specifically about killing a Relicta with the Aurifer, not merely defeating an enemy elsewhere or making an earlier combat choice.
You overwrote the branch save
Look for an autosave or another manual slot from immediately after the Aurifer transformation. If none remains, the two-ending method cannot be recreated from the overwritten file; you will need to replay to the Aurifer point.

You expected the final boss to stay the same
The final encounter changes with the branch: the no-kill route leads to Lacuna, while the one-kill route leads to Hermes. Reaching a different boss after reloading is therefore evidence that the branch was set, not necessarily a progression error.

Prima Games states that New Game+ adds two more endings, which would make four in total. That report does not identify the extra endings, specify whether they require a particular New Game+ cycle, or explain which actions unlock them. No documented route in the available ending guides fills in those details.
For planning purposes, treat the New Game+ information as an unresolved possibility rather than a confirmed four-ending checklist. The Aurifer save method is established for Solve et Coagula and Magnum Opus. It should not be advertised as a proven way to unlock unnamed New Game+ outcomes, and a player seeking those outcomes may need to investigate the in-game New Game+ rules separately.

Practical checklist before leaving the Aurifer area
- Have you completed the knife transformations and confirmed that the Aurifer Knife is created?
- Did you make a manual save at the nearby Save Point after creation, not merely rely on an older autosave?
- Is that save protected from being overwritten?
- For Solve et Coagula, will you avoid killing every Relicta with the Aurifer?
- For Magnum Opus, after reloading, will you kill exactly one Relicta with the Aurifer and then continue?
- Are you prepared for Lacuna on the no-kill route and Hermes on the one-kill route?
What the game’s survival design means for the route
The late-game branch is simple to preserve, but reaching it still requires normal survival and resource management. Executive producer Airdorf described the experience as feeling like “you’re playing through someone’s nightmares.” New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry summarized the intended pressure by saying, “You will only ever have just enough health” and “You will only ever have just enough ammo.” Those comments explain why avoiding unnecessary Relicta fights on the no-kill route is practical as well as narratively appropriate: conserving health and ammunition reduces the chance of weakening your attempt before the final encounter.
Do not interpret that advice as a separate ending requirement. The documented ending trigger remains the Aurifer-and-Relicta action; survival resources affect your ability to reach the conclusion, not which named branch is selected.
Availability context
Tenebris Somnia is listed with an October 16, 2026 release date for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Menu labels and save behavior can vary slightly by platform, so look for the platform’s ordinary manual Save Point interaction and confirm that the file records the post-Aurifer state before proceeding.

Make one protected manual save immediately after creating the Aurifer Knife. Complete Solve et Coagula by sparing every Relicta, reload, then complete Magnum Opus by killing one Relicta with the Aurifer. That unlocks both documented main endings without replaying the full story. A four-ending total is reported for New Game+, but its two additional routes remain unspecified, so “every ending in one playthrough” is not established beyond the two main endings.
