Yes. The current UFL Mobile iPhone listing says you can play with a physical gamepad in a console-style layout, and that a quick controls guide appears when the gamepad connects. UFL Mobile is also available on Android as part of the mobile release. Pair a compatible controller with your phone, launch UFL, and look for the connection notice and control guide. Compatibility is not guaranteed for every PlayStation, Xbox or third-party model, because detection depends on the phone, operating system, controller mode, region and UFL build.
What controller support in UFL Mobile actually means
UFL Mobile has native support for a physical gamepad rather than requiring touch controls only. The current iOS store description specifically states: “You can play with a physical gamepad in a console-style layout.” It also says that a quick guide to the controls is shown when the gamepad connects. In practical terms, the game should recognize a controller at launch or when you connect one, then map its buttons and sticks to the football controls.

This wording confirms a supported controller category, not a complete compatibility list. It does not promise that every PS5 DualSense, Xbox Wireless Controller, telescopic Bluetooth pad or wired USB controller will work on every phone. The controller must first be recognized by iOS or Android, and UFL must support the input mode presented by that controller.

Is UFL Mobile available on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. UFL’s official mobile announcement describes the game as available on iOS and Android through its mobile release. The announcement reported more than 7 million players, a figure attributed to UFL/XTEN in 2026. Availability and features can still vary by territory while the mobile version is in a staged release.

UFL Support explains that the initial iOS and Android release was limited to named regions and that features could change before a global launch. Therefore, seeing the game in one country does not prove that the same build, controller behavior or feature set is available elsewhere. Install only the official listing shown for your region, and check its version notes after each update.
Why older reviews say controllers were not supported
Controller support changed during development. An earlier developer response in the Apple App Store said, “🎮 Gamepad support will be added to the game as soon as possible, stay tuned!” That response reflects an older build, not the current iOS listing. The newer version notes document physical-gamepad play, so reviews or forum posts written before that change may be out of date.
If a recent installation still does not detect a controller, treat that as a compatibility or rollout issue to troubleshoot rather than assuming that all controller support has been removed. Verify the app version, the phone’s system-level connection and your regional build before relying on older comments.

1. Install the correct regional build
- Open the official App Store listing on iPhone or the official Google Play listing on Android.
- Confirm that UFL Mobile is available for your account’s region and install the current version.
- Allow the download and any first-run update to finish before testing a gamepad.
A store listing can change independently of a review or video. If UFL is unavailable in your country, changing a device setting does not establish that the game or its controller features are officially supported there.
2. Put the controller in the right pairing mode
For a Bluetooth pad, turn it on and hold its pairing button or button combination until the status light indicates discovery mode. The exact sequence is controller-specific; follow its manual. Disconnect it from a console, computer or another phone first, because many pads automatically reconnect to their last device.

For a wired pad, use the appropriate cable and adapter for the phone. iPhone models with USB-C and older iPhones with a Lightning port require different physical connections. Android phones also vary in USB-C host support. A controller that powers on is not necessarily exposing an input mode that UFL can read.
3. Pair it in the phone’s settings
- On iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth, select the controller and wait for it to show as connected.
- On Android, open Settings > Connected devices (the wording can vary by manufacturer), choose Pair new device, select the controller and complete pairing.
- For a wired connection, plug the controller in securely and accept any system prompt that appears.
Test the controller outside UFL if possible. Moving through a system menu or a game known to support that pad confirms that the phone sees it; it does not by itself confirm UFL compatibility.

Start UFL after the controller is connected. The iOS listing says that a physical-gamepad connection notice and a quick controls guide appear when the gamepad connects. Follow that guide and test the left stick, right stick, face buttons, triggers and menu buttons before entering a competitive match.
If you paired the controller after UFL was already running, close and reopen the game. Reconnecting before launch gives the app the clearest opportunity to initialize its gamepad profile, although the listing does not promise that every hot-plug scenario will work.
Which controllers can work on iPhone and Android?
The safest category to shop for is a Bluetooth mobile game controller explicitly advertised as compatible with both iPhone/iPad and Android. A controller manual documenting direct wireless support for both device families is stronger evidence of phone compatibility than a generic “works with games” claim. Even then, UFL detection should be treated as a check to perform after pairing, not as a guaranteed model list.

When comparing two compatible-looking models, consider phone compatibility, Bluetooth versus wired connection, whether the phone is held in a mount, button layout, battery life and the seller’s return policy. These factors affect day-to-day use even when both controllers pass the initial UFL connection test.
Does UFL Mobile support PS5 and Xbox controllers?
The available evidence confirms physical-gamepad support but does not provide an official, model-by-model list for PS5 or Xbox controllers. A current-generation console pad can work if the phone recognizes it and the controller is placed in a mobile-compatible pairing mode, but that is a compatibility possibility, not a guarantee.
Before buying or troubleshooting a console controller, check four points:
- The exact controller revision, because different revisions can expose different wireless profiles.
- Whether iOS or Android lists the controller as connected without warnings.
- Whether the controller is still linked to a console, PC or tablet that can capture the connection.
- Whether UFL’s current regional build displays the physical-gamepad prompt and controls guide.
Do not infer support merely because another mobile game accepts the same controller. Games can use different input APIs and button mappings.
What to do when UFL Mobile does not detect the controller
Check the phone before checking UFL
- Open the phone’s Bluetooth or connected-device screen and confirm the controller is shown as connected.
- Turn the controller off and on, then forget and re-pair it if the connection is present but unresponsive.
- Charge the controller and remove it from any previously paired console or computer.
- For wired pads, reseat the cable, try a suitable adapter and verify that the phone supports USB host input.
Restart in a clean order
- Close UFL completely.
- Disconnect the controller from other devices.
- Pair or plug the controller into the phone first.
- Confirm the operating system shows the connection.
- Launch UFL and wait for the physical-gamepad notice.
This sequence is practical troubleshooting guidance, not a documented UFL guarantee. It prevents the app from starting before the operating system has created the controller connection.

Update the app and phone
Install any available UFL update and keep iOS or Android current enough to support the controller. The current iOS listing documents gamepad play, but UFL Mobile is still subject to version changes. A controller can work in one release and fail after an input-mapping change, or appear only after an app restart.
Rule out regional and soft-launch differences
If the gamepad works in the phone’s menus and another compatible game but UFL never shows its connection guide, check whether your account is receiving a different regional build. UFL Support has said that early iOS and Android availability was limited to named regions and that features could change before global launch. Compare the installed version number with the current store listing and avoid treating a different country’s video as proof of identical behavior.
Try another supported input mode
Some controllers offer separate iOS, Android, X-input or direct-connection modes. If the manual lists more than one, disconnect the pad, select the mode intended for your phone, pair again and relaunch UFL. Do not switch modes while the game is running unless the controller manual specifically permits it; the app may retain the first profile it sees.
When to stop troubleshooting
If the controller is not recognized by the operating system, the problem is below the game layer and should be addressed through the phone, cable, adapter or controller manufacturer. If the phone recognizes it but UFL does not after an update, clean pairing and a relaunch, report the exact phone model, operating-system version, controller model, connection type, UFL version and region through the game’s support channel. Those details are more useful than saying only that “Bluetooth does not work.”
Touch controls versus a physical gamepad
UFL’s mobile listing describes a console-style layout for physical gamepads. A controller can therefore provide familiar analog-stick movement, triggers and physical buttons, while touch controls remain useful when no pad is available. The choice is practical: a gamepad avoids covering the screen with virtual controls, but it adds pairing, charging and phone-mount considerations.

- Use a controller when: you want physical feedback, precise stick movement or a console-like layout for longer sessions.
- Use touch controls when: you need the quickest start, are sharing a device or do not want to carry and charge another accessory.
- Carry both when: you play in different places and cannot assume a stable Bluetooth connection or a convenient phone mount.
Before a ranked or important match, test every action in the controls guide. A connection indicator alone does not prove that every button is mapped as you expect.
What can change as UFL Mobile develops?
UFL Mobile’s controller story is a moving target because the game began with a regional release and its features may change before global launch. The progression from an earlier “support will be added” developer reply to current version notes documenting gamepad play shows why the date and app version matter.
Keep the store listing’s release notes as your first reference, then verify behavior on your own phone. A future update could add devices, alter button labels, change the connection prompt or temporarily introduce a bug. Conversely, a controller that fails in an old review may work in the current build. Treat independent claims of universal support, performance or model compatibility cautiously because no independent model-by-model testing establishes those promises.
