PlayStation lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express for the UAE Store, but says a card registered to an address in a different country from your PlayStation Store region may not link. The UAE payment list does not promise that every card issued abroad will work.
Why a foreign card may be rejected
PlayStation’s general card guidance says: “If your credit or debit card is registered to an address in a different country to that of your PlayStation Store region, you may find that they cannot be linked.” Its March 2026 terms add that your country or area of residence may be verified using your card number and rejected if the information does not match. In practice, having a Visa, Mastercard or American Express card is not enough by itself; the card’s registered address and the account’s Store region can matter.

The UAE Store’s accepted-payment page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Du, Etisalat and Apple Pay. That list identifies payment options for the UAE Store, not a guarantee that a foreign-issued card or its bank will approve a particular transaction. PlayStation does not publish a success rate for foreign cards.
What to try if your card does not work
- Check Store availability. PlayStation scheduled UAE Store maintenance for the transition from US dollars to UAE dirhams from October 5 through October 8, 2026. Its notice says purchases cannot be made while the Store is offline. Check the UAE currency-change notice for current status before troubleshooting a payment.
- Check the account region and card details. Confirm the account is set to the UAE Store and enter the card information as it appears on your bank statement. A mismatch between the card’s registered address and the Store region may prevent linking.
- Check the card and bank. PlayStation recommends confirming that the card type is supported, online payments are enabled, the payment details are correct, and the bank has not blocked the transaction. If the problem continues, contact the card provider to ask whether it declined the payment.
- Choose another UAE Store payment route. The Store lists PayPal, Du, Etisalat and Apple Pay as well as major card networks. Mobile payment requires a SIM and account registered in the same country or region; PayPal availability does not guarantee that a particular linked account or its funding source will work.
- Use a matching PlayStation Store voucher. PlayStation recommends a Store voucher as an alternative when card funding fails. The voucher must match the country and currency designated for the account; a foreign-region code should not be assumed to redeem.
What the 2026 UAE currency change means for gift cards
PlayStation’s notice says existing US-dollar PlayStation gift cards remain valid. It says redemptions made after maintenance is complete convert to local currency at the stated rate of 1 USD = 4.00 AED. Because the notice is tied to a specific maintenance window, check it for completion and current redemption details before relying on a code.
