Yes, but not by pairing a DualSense directly through the Switch’s usual controller menu. You need a compatible wireless USB adapter: 8BitDo documents its USB Wireless Adapter 2 for connecting PS5 controllers to Switch. Some DualSense features are not supported, and the adapter cannot wake the console.
Can a PS5 DualSense pair directly with a Nintendo Switch?
No. The Switch’s standard controller-pairing process does not treat the DualSense like a Joy-Con or Switch Pro Controller. Nintendo’s controller-pairing FAQ covers supported Switch controllers, while Sony’s wireless-controller guidance does not list Nintendo Switch among the DualSense’s supported platforms.

To use a DualSense, add a compatible adapter that translates the connection. 8BitDo lists PS5 controllers among the devices compatible with its USB Wireless Adapter 2 and says the adapter connects wireless controllers to Switch.

How to connect a DualSense to Switch with the 8BitDo adapter
These are the steps in 8BitDo’s DualSense-on-Switch manual. It specifies Switch system version 3.0.0 or above.

- Enable wired controller communication. On the Switch, open System Settings > Controllers and Sensors and turn on Pro Controller Wired Communication.
- Connect the adapter. Plug the USB Wireless Adapter 2 into the Switch dock.
- Put the adapter in pairing mode. Press its pair button until its LED blinks rapidly.
- Put the DualSense in pairing mode. Hold CREATE + PS for three seconds.
- Confirm and reconnect. A solid adapter LED indicates pairing succeeded. After the first pairing, press the DualSense’s PS button to reconnect.
Which DualSense features work—and which do not?
The adapter provides a way to use the controller for Switch games, but it does not reproduce every DualSense feature. 8BitDo’s manual lists the following as unsupported:
- Touch pad and audio jack
- Analog triggers
- NFC scanning and IR camera
- HD rumble
- Notification LED and player indicator
- Waking the Switch with the adapter
8BitDo’s FAQ also says adaptive triggers are unsupported. Feature support can vary by adapter and firmware, so check the maker’s documentation for the exact adapter generation and controller setup you plan to use.

Is using an adapter worth it?
If you already own a DualSense and want to use it on Switch, the documented 8BitDo adapter route is a practical option, provided you accept the missing features and the need to wake the console another way. It is not native pairing, and the available documentation does not establish that every adapter brand or firmware version will work. The cited product documentation confirms compatibility, but does not establish current price or retail availability.
