Not through a non-OSC method documented in the current update notes. Climbey’s October 2, 2026 update explicitly adds eye-openness support via OSC. SteamVR’s related beta 2.18.2 note describes eye-openness data from Steam Frame while streaming via OSC, with SteamOS 0.4.3 or higher required. The notes do not give a setup procedure or describe an alternative to OSC.
What the current Climbey update supports
Climbey’s October 2, 2026 update note says: “Add support for Eye-Openness via OSC”. That establishes OSC as the newly announced route; it does not establish a player-facing way to use the feature without OSC.
The announcement does not explain how to configure the feature, name an in-game menu or setting, list compatible headsets, or describe a non-OSC option. As a result, there is no verified set of steps for enabling eye-openness controls without OSC based on the published note.
What SteamVR’s release note adds
In its October 1, 2026 beta 2.18.2 update note, SteamVR says: “Expose eye openness information when streaming from Steam Frame, via OSC.” It specifies SteamOS 0.4.3 or higher for this exposure.

Read together, the two notes describe an OSC-based path involving Climbey’s eye-openness support and SteamVR’s exposure of that information when streaming from Steam Frame. They do not document the additional configuration steps a player might need, nor do they confirm that this exact route is the only possible implementation on every setup.
Is a non-OSC option coming?
SteamVR’s beta note says: “In an upcoming release, eye openness will also be available via the OpenVR SDK.” It gives no release date. This is a future-facing announcement, not confirmation that OpenVR SDK support is currently available; the Climbey update also does not say that the game will support this route.

Why older Climbey instructions may differ
A Climbey note dated December 24, 2025 described initial eye-tracking support for hardware providing SteamVR Link OSC-powered eye-tracking passthrough. It also said multiplayer support at that time worked only when Climbey was streamed via Steam Link. Those statements describe the earlier eye-tracking update, not a complete setup guide or the exact requirements for the October 2026 eye-openness update.
