Galaxy Buds cannot pair directly with a PS5 as ordinary Bluetooth audio headphones. To hear game audio through them, use a USB Bluetooth audio transmitter that supports PS5. Chat is less predictable: many transmitters do not send the Buds’ microphone audio back to the console, and Bluetooth delay can make fast-paced games uncomfortable.
Can Galaxy Buds connect directly to a PS5?
No—not through the PS5’s built-in Bluetooth settings. The console uses Bluetooth for devices such as the DualSense controller, but that does not mean it accepts standard Bluetooth audio from third-party earbuds. Sony says third-party Bluetooth headsets are not supported; the PS5 can instead use compatible USB and analog headsets. Sony’s PS5 FAQ and Sony’s Bluetooth-audio guidance distinguish audio support from other Bluetooth connections.
If you try pairing from the console’s Bluetooth accessories menu, the Buds may not appear or the PS5 may report that Bluetooth audio devices are unsupported. Samsung’s statement that Buds3 and Buds3 Pro can connect to PlayStation for audio describes their use as Bluetooth earbuds generally; it does not override the PS5’s own restriction on native third-party Bluetooth audio pairing. Samsung’s Buds3 connectivity guidance should be read alongside Sony’s PS5-specific guidance.
What you need to use Galaxy Buds for PS5 audio
- Charged Galaxy Buds.
- A USB Bluetooth audio transmitter that explicitly supports PS5 USB audio output. Choose USB-A or USB-C to match the port you plan to use.
- A separate chat-microphone plan unless the transmitter specifically supports bidirectional headset audio and you confirm the PS5 recognizes it.
Check the adapter’s function before buying: a transmitter sends PS5 audio to the Buds; a Bluetooth receiver typically takes audio from a phone and outputs it to a wired speaker or headphones, so it is usually the wrong device. A controller adapter intended for pairing gamepads is not necessarily an audio transmitter. Look for stated PS5 compatibility and confirm its microphone and codec support rather than relying on a Bluetooth version number or an unqualified “low latency” claim. No specific third-party transmitter is established here as a verified recommendation.

Most Galaxy Buds generations that support standard Bluetooth audio may receive stereo audio through a compatible transmitter, but results depend on the adapter and Buds model. Samsung’s March 3, 2026 Buds4/Buds4 Pro feature table lists standard audio streaming with game consoles while marking several app-dependent or Samsung-specific features unavailable on other Bluetooth devices. Samsung’s compatibility table applies specifically to Buds4 and Buds4 Pro; it is not a promise that every Buds feature or every older model works identically.
How to connect Galaxy Buds to PS5 with a USB transmitter
- Put the Buds into pairing mode. Disconnect them from a phone or other nearby device first if they keep reconnecting to it. The exact procedure depends on the model. Older Buds, Buds+, Buds Live and Buds Pro use a touch-and-hold method on both earbuds; Buds2 and Buds2 Pro use their case and touch sensors; Buds3 and Buds3 Pro use the case pairing button. Follow the current instructions for your exact model in Samsung’s pairing guide. Do not assume the Buds4 procedure is identical to another generation.
- Connect the transmitter to the PS5. Plug it directly into a console USB port for initial setup rather than through a hub. If it has a PS5/PC switch, select PS5; if it has TX/RX modes, use transmitter mode. Sony’s own INZONE Buds setup guide likewise specifies a direct USB connection and the correct transceiver position for its device.
- Pair the Buds and transmitter. Put the transmitter into pairing mode and wait for its indicator or status to show a connection. The steps and indicators differ by adapter, so use that device’s instructions.
- Select the USB audio output on PS5. Open Settings → Sound → Audio Output → Output Device, then select the USB transmitter or its displayed device name. Menu wording can change with system software updates.
- Route all sound to the earbuds. In the audio-output settings, set Output to Headphones to All Audio if that option is shown. Adjust headphone volume there as needed. You can try 3D Audio for Headphones, but do not assume every transmitter passes every feature in the same way.
- Test game audio, then chat separately. Check left and right channels and whether sound timing is acceptable in a game. Join a party and test the microphone as a separate step; hearing game audio does not prove the Buds microphone is connected.
Will the Galaxy Buds microphone work for party chat?
Possibly, but do not count on it without checking the transmitter’s specifications and testing it on your console. Many simple USB Bluetooth transmitters are designed mainly to send audio from the PS5 to headphones. Microphone return depends on the adapter’s supported profiles, firmware and how the console recognizes it.

If the Buds play game audio but chat cannot hear you, set the PS5 input to Controller Microphone and check that the DualSense microphone is not muted. Sony confirms the DualSense has an integrated microphone and that compatible wired headset microphones can work through supported connections in its PS5 FAQ. A compatible USB microphone is another option if you want a separate input.
Latency, sound quality and Samsung features
Expect latency to vary
A generic Bluetooth transmitter can add a delay between an action on screen and its sound. The amount depends on both the transmitter and the Buds, their shared codec, firmware and wireless conditions. A codec such as aptX Low Latency helps only if both devices support the same mode; Bluetooth version alone does not guarantee low delay. If timing matters—for example, in rhythm games, fighting games or competitive shooters—test your exact combination or choose another connection. Sony describes PlayStation Link as a low-latency wireless system for compatible products, not a universal Bluetooth mode. Sony’s PlayStation Link adapter page describes the system’s intended compatible devices.

Basic stereo is not the full Galaxy experience
With a working transmitter, expect ordinary headphone audio rather than guaranteed access to Samsung’s full ecosystem. ANC and ambient sound are generally processed by the earbuds themselves, but model-specific controls may vary. Do not count on Galaxy-app EQ, Gaming Mode, 360 Audio, Auto Switch, firmware updates or other Samsung-only features being available through the PS5 connection. For Buds4 and Buds4 Pro, Samsung’s March 3, 2026 feature table marks several of these unavailable for game consoles or other Bluetooth devices.
Sony says compatible USB and analog headphone connections can support PS5 3D Audio, but a third-party Bluetooth transmitter adds another compatibility layer. Treat 3D Audio as something to try with your adapter, not a guaranteed property of Galaxy Buds on PS5. Sony’s PS5 FAQ covers compatible USB and analog headsets.

Troubleshoot common connection problems
The PS5 does not recognize the transmitter
- Unplug and reconnect it, then try another console USB port.
- Connect it directly, without a hub, and verify that it is in audio-transmit mode rather than receive mode.
- Check any PS5/PC switch and the adapter’s compatibility instructions; restart the PS5 with the transmitter connected if needed.
The Buds will not pair
- Temporarily turn off Bluetooth on the phone, tablet or laptop they normally use.
- Put both earbuds in the case, close it for several seconds, reopen it and use the pairing method for the specific generation.
- If the transmitter has a saved pairing, clear it and pair again according to its instructions. Reset the Buds only as a last resort because it may remove saved settings.
There is no sound, or only one earbud plays
- Confirm the USB transmitter is selected under Settings → Sound → Audio Output → Output Device and that Output to Headphones is set to All Audio.
- Check the Buds’ charge and repeat pairing with both earbuds in the case.
- Reconnect the Buds to a phone to check that both earbuds work normally, then pair them to the transmitter again.
Game audio works but the microphone does not
- Set Input Device to Controller Microphone, check the DualSense mute status and test party-chat levels.
- Use a transmitter that explicitly supports microphone input only if its PS5 operation is documented; otherwise use a wired headset or USB microphone for chat.
The audio is delayed
- Confirm that both the transmitter and Buds support the same low-latency codec; a label on one device alone is not enough.
- Move the transmitter away from nearby wireless equipment or use a short USB extension if the console’s position obstructs it.
- If delay remains distracting, use a wired headset or a PS5-focused wireless headset instead.
Which connection should you choose?
| Option | Game audio | Chat microphone | Latency and trade-off | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Direct PS5 Bluetooth pairing | No | No | Not available | Not a viable route for ordinary Bluetooth earbuds |
| USB Bluetooth transmitter with Galaxy Buds | Usually, if the adapter supports PS5 USB audio | Variable; verify adapter support | Variable; codec and device combination matter | Existing Buds owners who mainly want game audio |
| Wired earbuds or headset through DualSense 3.5 mm jack | Yes | Usually, with a compatible headset microphone | Minimal connection delay; cable runs to controller | Reliable, simple gaming and chat |
| PS5-compatible USB wireless headset | Yes, with a compatible receiver | Yes, if included headset supports it | Typically designed for gaming; check product compatibility | Regular multiplayer or competitive use |
| PlayStation Link earbuds or headset | Yes, with compatible PlayStation Link equipment | Designed for the compatible product | Uses Sony’s own wireless system; not a Galaxy Buds bridge | Owners seeking first-party integration |
| Remote Play on a phone, tablet or computer | Yes, through the Remote Play device | Depends on the device and app | Can add latency and requires another device | Casual or temporary use |
The DualSense’s 3.5 mm jack is the simplest dependable workaround if you are willing to use wired earbuds instead of Galaxy Buds. Sony says compatible headsets connected through the controller jack, USB-A or USB-C can support 3D Audio; see its PS5 FAQ.
PS5-focused alternatives to Galaxy Buds
Wired earbuds through the DualSense
Plug wired earbuds or a headset with a compatible 3.5 mm plug into the controller, then select the controller as the output device in PS5 audio settings. This avoids Bluetooth-transmitter pairing and is a practical choice when predictable sound and chat matter more than a cable-free setup.

Quick Recap
Is using Galaxy Buds on PS5 worth it?
- Worth trying: You already own Galaxy Buds, mainly play single-player games, and can accept that latency and controls may vary. A transmitter can be a practical way to get game audio without replacing the earbuds.
- Use with a chat workaround: Casual multiplayer may be workable if you are comfortable using the DualSense microphone or another separate mic.
- Choose another headset: For competitive or timing-sensitive games, regular party chat, or a plug-and-play setup, use a wired headset or a PS5-compatible wireless model instead.
