Yes. You can publish a game for people to play inside Google Playground, share it by direct link, or download a ZIP of its files. Publishing is an opt-in choice; downloading the files does not, by itself, establish permission to sell or distribute the game outside Playground.

Google announced Playground on October 7, 2026, as an experimental, browser-based game creation platform. It lets creators describe and refine games through conversational instructions. This guide concerns Google Playground, not Google Play Console or publishing a conventional Android app.

Can I publish my game in Google Playground?

Yes. New games start as drafts, and you choose whether to keep them private, share them by link, or make them public. Google describes manual publication and sharing to the Playground Explore gallery in its Playground Help Center and launch announcement.

Visibility Who can access it Discoverability and screening
Draft or Private Not shared publicly. Not publicly listed.
Unlisted People who have the game’s direct link. Not searchable as a public listing.
Listed / Discoverable Public access. Searchable after Google’s automated safety screening.

Public listing is subject to Playground’s safety screening against its Community Guidelines. If you edit a published game, the changes remain draft or private until you explicitly publish them again. Google says you can continue editing a game after publication.

Can I download the game I made?

Yes. Playground’s Creation Studio can export a ZIP archive containing the game’s HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and generated asset files. That answers whether you can access the files; it does not answer what uses the terms allow. The export instructions do not themselves grant a right to redistribute, host, sell, or monetize the files outside Playground.

Can I sell or publish the game outside Playground?

The available export description does not settle that question. Before releasing an exported game elsewhere or charging for it, review the current Playground Additional Terms and applicable policies for provisions about external distribution, commercial use, and generated assets. Playground’s Community Guidelines state that Google’s Terms of Service, Additional Terms, and applicable policies govern use. A general description of Google’s Terms mentions a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for Google to use content a user makes visible to others; that is not a complete answer to the separate question of your rights to distribute exported files.

What copyright and affiliation rules should creators follow?

Playground’s Community Guidelines say to “Respect copyright laws.” They prohibit copyright and other intellectual-property infringement. Parody, satire, homage, and broad genre conventions may be welcome when the game is clearly an independent creation and does not confuse players about official sponsorship or authorization.

The Guidelines also ask users not to link to, share, or display URLs of external websites within Playground. Use the platform’s Social Links feature to share a game.

Who can use Playground?

At launch, Google said Playground was available in the United States to users aged 18 and older, with game-creation access rolling out in phases. Availability may therefore depend on location, age, and whether access has reached your account; see the current Playground Help Center for the latest details.
