What changed in the reported Xbox gift card prices?
The reported increase was in the number of Microsoft Rewards points needed to redeem a card, not in the card’s face value. Windows Central’s February 17, 2026 report gave these examples:

Windows Central reported the US and UK figures alongside a euro example attributed to a social post. The euro figure is not an official Microsoft rate, and the examples do not establish that every country saw the same change or percentage.
How much does an Xbox gift card cost in Rewards now?
There is no single current price that applies to all accounts. Microsoft says Rewards offers vary by country and directs members to check the Rewards page for available offers. Prices may also differ with account status: Microsoft says Level 2 members can receive cheaper redemption rates on certain rewards. The live price shown for your signed-in account is the relevant one.

To check it, open the Microsoft Rewards page while signed in to the account you plan to use, find the Xbox gift card offer, and read the points cost for the denomination displayed. Confirm the currency and region before redeeming.
Why can the price or availability differ by region?
Microsoft’s support guidance says offers vary by country and that points must be redeemed in the region where the account was signed up. It also warns against redeeming in another market or using a VPN during redemption. A price seen in another country—or in a report about another market—does not establish the rate for your account.

Gift card availability can change as well. Microsoft says some gift cards are not always available through Rewards and does not provide a timetable for when a missing card will return or be removed. If the offer is absent, check the account’s Rewards page again rather than assuming the point cost has changed.
What happens when you redeem an Xbox gift card?
Microsoft says Xbox gift cards redeemed through Rewards are deposited into the Microsoft account balance as promotional balance, subject to applicable terms. A cash-purchased card is a separate option for adding funds; the sources do not establish that buying one earns Rewards points or changes the redemption rate. Check that any card you buy matches your account’s region and the intended denomination.

Which sources support the reported increase?
The February 2026 point-cost examples come from Adam Hales’ reporting for Windows Central, not from an official Microsoft price table. Microsoft’s support pages explain regional variation, redemption-region rules, availability, account balance treatment and possible Level 2 discounts, but they do not confirm the historical February price changes or publish a universal current rate.
