No—do not try to verify your Roblox age with a fake, altered, expired, or borrowed ID. Roblox’s official process requires your own valid government-issued photo ID and a live selfie. Its system is designed to check the document’s legitimacy and whether the person submitting it matches the ID photo, so a fake document is not a reliable or legitimate shortcut.
How Roblox age verification works
Roblox now uses more than the birthday entered when an account was created. Depending on your region, account, and available features, it may use facial age estimation to place an account in an age group, or government-ID verification to verify age and identity.

Age checks can affect access to features such as chat, Restricted Content, trusted-friend communication, collaboration tools, and other age-appropriate experiences. Roblox’s January 2026 announcement says age checks are required for chat in applicable rollouts, but availability varies by region and account.
ID verification is available to users aged 13 or older. Supported documents generally include a driver’s license, passport, residence permit, or another supported government-issued photo ID. Roblox says verification is available in more than 180 countries, although document types and availability differ by country.

What Roblox checks
Roblox’s published FAQs say its verification provider, Persona, uses image processing to check whether a document is legitimate. The process also asks for a live selfie or photo so the submitted person can be compared with the photo on the ID. Persona’s processing may include face geometry and fraud detection.
A successful verification can update the birthday on the Roblox account to the date shown on the verified ID. Roblox says a “Verified” indicator appears under the birthday in Account Info.
What counts as a fake or invalid ID?
In this context, “fake ID” includes more than a completely counterfeit document. Do not submit:

- An altered genuine ID.
- An edited scan, screenshot, photocopy, or AI-generated document.
- Someone else’s genuine ID, including a parent’s or friend’s ID.
- An expired document when Roblox requires a valid, non-expired document.
- A document whose photograph or birthday does not belong to you.
A borrowed real ID is still not your own official document. It can fail the face comparison and may misrepresent another person’s identity.

Can a fake ID technically pass?
Roblox does not publish its complete anti-fraud system or a guaranteed success or failure rate for every submission. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to claim that every fake document is mathematically impossible to process successfully.
The practical answer is still no: there is no legitimate reason to expect a fake ID to pass. Roblox says it checks document legitimacy and compares the live selfie with the ID photo. A fake, altered, borrowed, expired, or mismatched document may fail one or both checks. Explaining ways to evade those checks would facilitate identity misuse and platform circumvention, so it is not a safe solution.
What happens if you submit one?
Immediate verification outcomes
The submission may be rejected, remain pending while it is reviewed, or require another attempt. You may also remain unable to use the feature that prompted the age check. Roblox identifies illegible, incomplete, expired, or missing-selfie submissions as reasons verification may need to be repeated.
Possible account action
Roblox’s Terms of Use require account information to be true, accurate, and current. The Terms also allow Roblox to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of its Terms or Community Standards. That means submitting false information may result in account action, potentially affecting access to experiences, Robux, and virtual items. Roblox does not publish a universal penalty guaranteeing that every suspicious or failed submission causes an automatic permanent ban.

Legal and security risks
Forging, possessing, or using an identity document can have legal consequences that depend on your country, state, age, and circumstances. A failed Roblox attempt is not automatically a crime in every jurisdiction, but using a forged or misused identity document is not a harmless workaround.
Never send an ID, selfie, password, or account cookie to a Discord seller, social-media account, or unofficial “Roblox verification” website. Such requests can expose you to identity theft, account takeover, blackmail, or scams.

- Log in to Roblox.
- Open Settings. In a browser, select the gear icon; in the mobile app, open More (…) > Settings.
- Open Account Info.
- Under the birthday or age-group information, select Continue with ID.
- Allow camera access when prompted.
- Capture the front of the ID and the back if requested or if it contains a barcode.
- Take the requested live selfie.
- Return to the original Roblox session and wait for the result.
Use bright, even lighting, keep the document flat, photograph the entire ID, avoid glare, and make sure every detail is readable. Roblox says processing can take a few minutes, while some documents or countries may take longer.

Safe alternatives by situation
You are under 13
Roblox’s ID-verification option is for users 13 and older. Do not borrow a parent’s ID or falsify your age to unlock 13+ features. A parent or legal guardian should use the available child-account and parental-control options. Start with Roblox’s Safety Center and official account settings.
You are 13 or older but do not have an ID
Check whether your account offers Continue with selfie for facial age estimation. This estimates an age group rather than proving legal identity, and it can sometimes place a user in the wrong group. If that option is unavailable, wait until you have a supported valid ID or contact Roblox Support about a technical problem. Do not buy a “verification” or use another person’s document.
Your legitimate ID was rejected
Confirm that it is government-issued, supported in your country, valid, and not expired. Retake the images with good lighting and no glare, include every requested side, and complete the live selfie in the Roblox flow rather than uploading a static image. Make sure the selfie shows the same person as the ID. If a valid document continues to fail, use official Roblox Support. Support may help with technical or account problems, but Roblox says it cannot manually verify IDs or remove existing verifications.
Your birthday or age estimate is wrong
Use the official account-setting or support route for an incorrect birthday or facial age estimate. A legitimate correction problem does not justify creating false evidence. Roblox may ask users to check their age again, and regional parental-consent requirements can apply.
You already submitted a fake or borrowed ID
Stop submitting additional documents and do not try to conceal the attempt with more false information. Secure the account, avoid unofficial helpers, and contact Roblox Support through its official website to explain the account problem. The eventual enforcement outcome is not publicly guaranteed.
What happens to the ID and selfie data?
According to Roblox’s Biometric and Facial Media Data Privacy Notice, Persona processes the ID photo, selfie, and face geometry for identity verification and fraud detection. Roblox says it does not receive or retain a copy of the biometric data or access the face geometry processed by Persona.
Roblox also says Persona generally deletes biometric data within 30 days after collection unless a longer retention period is required by law. Its support pages state that uploaded data is removed from Persona after 30 days. These are Roblox and Persona’s published policy statements, not an independent guarantee that no other account or compliance data is retained.

The bottom line
A fake or borrowed ID is not a safe way to verify your Roblox age. Use your own valid government ID through Settings > Account Info > Continue with ID, use the official selfie-based option when available, or follow the parental-control and support routes for your situation. Never send identity documents to third-party “verification” services.
