King released Candy Crush Solitaire worldwide on mobile on February 6, 2025. It is a free-to-download TriPeaks solitaire game—not Klondike—with Candy Crush-style levels, boosters, a card Hold Slot, and postcard collectibles.
When did Candy Crush Solitaire come out?
The worldwide mobile launch was February 6, 2025. King announced the launch on February 7, while Microsoft’s Xbox Wire published launch-day coverage on February 6 confirming the release and describing the game. King President Tjodolf Sommestad said, “We’re excited to take a timeless card game like solitaire and reimagine it through the lens of the iconic Candy Crush brand.” King’s launch announcement and Xbox Wire’s launch-day story provide the dated details.
Is Candy Crush Solitaire TriPeaks or Klondike?
It is TriPeaks. In TriPeaks, you clear exposed cards from the board by playing a card one rank higher or lower than the current card. Klondike, by contrast, is built around arranging cards into suit sequences. King Executive Producer Marta Cortinas described the distinction this way: “TriPeaks Solitaire differs from Klondike in that it focuses more on clearing a board by playing cards in ascending or descending order, rather than building suits,” in Xbox Wire’s February 6, 2025 coverage.
How does the game play?
Each level centers on clearing a TriPeaks board, with Candy Crush-style progression and special mechanics layered onto the solitaire rules. The game includes candy-themed obstacles, boosters, and a Hold Slot for setting aside a card to play later. The Color Bomb clears available cards; the Lollipop Hammer removes a card you select.

Apple’s pre-launch App Store feature also described a streak meter: clear successive cards without drawing to build a streak and unlock rewards such as coins or extra cards. According to Apple’s feature, clearing cards of the same color or alternating colors can double the reward.
What can players collect?
Players can collect postcards featuring locations around the world as they progress. That collectible layer sits alongside the level-based card play rather than changing the underlying TriPeaks rule.

At launch, Executive Producer Marta Cortinas said the studio intended to add levels weekly and refine them based on player feedback. That was King’s stated plan in February 2025, not confirmation of the game’s update schedule today. In the same Xbox Wire interview, Cortinas said: “We saw an opportunity to bring together two timeless gaming experiences, Candy Crush Saga and Solitaire, both of which offer a satisfying balance of relaxation and challenge.”
