How to download the game on Windows PC
- Open the official Steam product page. The listing provides access to the full game and demo: Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 on Steam.
- Choose the full game or demo. Review the current options on Steam; the available sources do not establish a current price or discount.
- Install or open the Steam client and follow its prompts. A compatible Steam client is required to download and run the Steam version. Steam Support says the client supports Windows 10 and later beginning January 1, 2024; this is separate from the game’s older operating-system floor shown on its store listing.
- Download and install through Steam. Make sure you have 35 GB of available storage, as listed for both the minimum and recommended configurations.
The cited sources identify Steam as the official download route and do not validate third-party download sites.
Windows PC system requirements
Steam lists the following requirements. Its operating-system entry says 64-bit Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 for both tiers, while Steam’s client support note means the older game listing should not be read as a guarantee that the current Steam client supports Windows 8.1.

What you do in Car Mechanic Simulator 2021
The game centers on running a repair workshop: take customer orders, diagnose faults, repair and restore vehicles, improve the garage, and work on project cars. Steam advertises 72 cars and more than 4,000 unique parts. Its listing describes randomly generated orders alongside handcrafted story missions, as well as car auctions, barn finds, junkyard searches, tuning, and time trials at a race track. These are features described by the publisher on the store page.
Workshop systems and customization
The store listing also highlights fluids, a car wash, dents, paintable mechanical parts, new engine sounds, minigames, a brake lathe, quality upgrades, fuseboxes, salvage auctions, revised part examination, visual body customization, a car configurator, and rusted bolts. The listing characterizes the missions as having distinct requirements and challenges; it does not provide independent performance testing or a guarantee about how the game will run on a particular PC.
Practical tips before you start
- Check the GPU model, not just the amount of RAM. Compare your dedicated graphics card against the GTX 760 minimum and note that Intel integrated graphics are excluded.
- Use the recommended tier as a more demanding reference. Steam lists 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1070 with 8 GB for its recommended configuration, compared with 8 GB RAM and a GTX 760 with 2 GB at minimum.
- Leave enough disk space. The listing specifies 35 GB available storage for both configurations.
- Use community guides as player references, not official documentation. Steam Support points to community-created guides, including material about story cars and parts shopping lists. Their presence does not establish that an individual guide is official or fully accurate.
