Carian Grandeur is a chargeable weapon skill in Elden Ring that turns a blade into a magical greatsword and brings it down in a heavy swing. It can be charged through two additional levels to increase its power. You can obtain the Ash of War in Caria Manor, or use the skill innately on the Carian Knight’s Sword.
What Carian Grandeur does
The in-game skill description reads: “Carian royal prestige embodied in a skill. Transform blade into a magical greatsword and swing it down. Can be charged to increase its power by up to two levels.” In practice, the skill has three charge stages: an immediate swing, a partially charged swing, and a fully charged swing. Charging takes longer, but increases the attack’s power.

The reference pages list the skill’s FP cost as 26. Eldenpedia also lists base magic attack power values of 220 uncharged, 315 partially charged, and 400 fully charged. These are community-maintained mechanics figures, not guaranteed damage values for every weapon, character build, or game version; your actual results depend on the weapon and character.
Where to find the Carian Grandeur Ash of War
The Ash of War is found on a body in Caria Manor, in Liurnia of the Lakes. From the Royal Moongazing Grounds side of the manor, descend by the platforms toward a raised stone structure. The corpse is on the structure; the route passes near jar enemies. Guides describe the precise landmarks differently, so use the surrounding platforms and structure to orient yourself rather than relying on a single landmark name.

Applying the Ash of War grants Carian Grandeur and Magic affinity to a compatible weapon. Eldenpedia lists compatible infusable sword classes and excludes colossal swords and backhand blades. Compatibility can vary by weapon, so check the Ash of War menu for the specific sword you intend to use.
Use the Carian Knight’s Sword as an alternative
You do not have to collect the Ash of War to use Carian Grandeur. The Carian Knight’s Sword has the skill as its innate weapon skill, providing a direct alternative for a character who wants to try it without assigning the Ash to another sword.

Carian Grandeur or Carian Greatsword?
Eldenpedia’s comparison describes Carian Grandeur as charging faster than Carian Greatsword, while costing more FP: 26 rather than 16. Treat this as community reference-guide information, not a firsthand timing test. The trade-off is between a faster, more expensive weapon-skill use and the other skill’s lower listed FP cost.

Charging exposes you to interruption, and the attack commits you to a downward swing; whether its reach, damage, and recovery work for you depends on the enemy, weapon, and build. Magic affinity also changes the weapon’s scaling, so compare the resulting weapon stats with the affinity and attributes your character already uses. Try it on the intended sword and build before committing if you are unsure.
