The opening-chapter demo is available now, and its save can carry into the full game only if you use the same platform and account. Set in Paris in 1499, the 2D action-exploration game stars Rose Belmont and features whip-based combat and traversal, other weapons, hidden areas, and bosses. Nintendo says the Switch version is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Switch; it is not listed as a separate Switch 2 edition.
When does Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse come out, and what platforms is it on?
Konami lists October 15, 2026, as the release date. The supported platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s US store listing gives the same date. Konami classifies the game as single-player.

That platform list matters if you plan to start with the demo: Konami’s save-transfer condition requires the demo and full game to be played on the same platform and account. A demo save from one system cannot be carried to a copy on another under that rule.

| Platform listing | Listed frame rate | Standard capacity | Midnight capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam | 60 fps | 8 GB | 10 GB |
| Nintendo Switch | 30 fps | 4 GB | 6 GB |
The capacities are the full-game figures on Konami’s product page. They are separate from the demo’s listed minimums, and the page does not establish comparative image quality or measured performance across platforms. Allow additional free space for any later updates or other content your platform requires.
Is Belmont’s Curse coming to Switch 2?
Nintendo marks the Nintendo Switch game as supported on Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. That means the announced listing is the Switch version played on Switch 2, not a distinct Switch 2 edition. Nintendo’s US store page estimates the download at 4.2 GB; that is its listing estimate, while Konami’s product page gives minimum required capacity figures of 4 GB for Standard and 6 GB for Midnight on Switch.
If you are choosing where to play, the documented difference to weigh is the publisher’s listed 30 fps for Switch against 60 fps for the other platforms in Konami’s table. Those figures alone do not establish how the experience compares in image quality, responsiveness, or real-world performance. The available official platform information does not provide a basis for ranking systems on those measures.
Is there a demo, and does progress carry over?
Yes. Konami says the available demo contains the opening chapter, and its save can transfer to the full game. Transfer is conditional: both versions must be on the same platform, both must use the same account, the demo save must still be available, and the full game must be updated to its latest version. Konami also warns that some features and content may be restricted in the demo.

How to preserve the chance to transfer your save
- Choose your full-game platform before starting the demo. A PlayStation 5 demo save, for example, does not meet the same-platform requirement for a Switch or Steam copy.
- Use the account you intend to use for the full game. A different account does not meet Konami’s stated transfer condition.
- Keep the demo save. Do not delete the save data before transferring progress.
- Update the full game. Konami says the full version must be on its latest version for the transfer.
The demo uses less listed capacity than the full game. Konami’s demo page gives these minimums:
| Demo platform | Minimum listed capacity |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | 6 GB |
| Xbox Series X|S | 5 GB |
| Steam | 4 GB |
| Nintendo Switch | 3 GB |
These are official minimum capacity figures, not a promise that every installation will use exactly that amount. The demo is a way to try the opening chapter, but it should not be treated as a complete representation of the full game because Konami notes that some material may be restricted.
Who is Rose Belmont, and when is the game set?
Rose Belmont is the central character in Konami’s current description and the daughter of Trevor Belmont. The story takes place in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Konami’s synopsis describes monsters attacking the city and Rose’s growth as a Belmont. The setting includes Paris streets, catacombs, and Dracula’s castle.

That places the story after Dracula’s Curse by the interval Konami specifies; it does not, by itself, establish additional plot details or how the game connects to every other entry in the series. If you are catching up, the key context supplied by the official description is Trevor’s connection to Rose and the 23-year gap.

What does the gameplay involve?
Konami describes the game as “2D Action-Exploration.” The official descriptions emphasize moving through dangerous areas, fighting monsters, finding secrets, and facing bosses. The Vampire Killer whip is central to both combat and movement: the PlayStation Blog announcement says Rose can use it to move freely as well as attack. Other weapons and abilities are part of the toolkit, and the announcement specifically identifies a sword.
Movement, weapons, and exploration
The whip is more than a long-range attack in the stated design. Konami’s PlayStation Blog description presents it as a way to traverse the environment, with its mechanics contributing to fast-paced combat. The same announcement highlights other weapons and abilities to master. It does not give a complete weapon list or explain every ability, so the sword is a named example rather than a confirmed exhaustive inventory.
Exploration is part of the genre label and the feature descriptions. Konami points to secret chambers, hidden items, and breakable walls concealing health-restoring meat, alongside challenging areas. These details suggest that looking beyond the obvious route may reward players with useful discoveries, but the official descriptions do not specify a map structure, a progression system, or how much backtracking is required.

Nintendo’s store description names Death, Medusa, and Carmilla among the bosses, and also identifies Joan of Arc as a new boss. It highlights an Arcana System. Those descriptions outline the kinds of play to expect—whip-assisted traversal, combat with multiple tools, exploration, and boss fights—without settling questions that require hands-on play, such as combat feel, difficulty balance, or how freely each area can be explored. No independent performance test or review is represented by the official feature listings.
Is Belmont’s Curse a roguelike?
Konami’s official genre label is “2D Action-Exploration,” and its descriptions focus on exploring areas, finding secrets, using weapons, and fighting bosses. The official material cited here does not label Belmont’s Curse a roguelike. It is therefore more accurate to describe it using Konami’s action-exploration wording than to infer a roguelike structure from the work of people associated with earlier games. The available description does not provide enough detail to make a broader claim about every roguelike convention the game may or may not use.

Konami lists a Standard Edition containing the main game. Midnight Edition is offered in physical or digital form and includes the main game, a separate Digital Sound & Art Gallery application, and three in-game bonuses. The gallery is described as containing over 100 pieces of art and an in-app music player; Konami’s product page lists 71 tracks.
| Edition or bonus | What Konami lists |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Main game |
| Midnight Edition | Main game, separate Digital Sound & Art Gallery, Trevor Style Costume, Sypha Style Costume, and Family’s Grace relic |
| Alucard Style Costume | Separate early-purchase/preorder bonus, not one of the three Midnight in-game bonuses |
The Digital Sound & Art Gallery is a separate application rather than simply a menu inside the game. Konami says the physical version requires an additional download from an online store for a bonus. The product page does not make every regional packaging or bonus term universal, so check the listing for your country and retailer before buying if a specific extra is decisive.

Konami’s announcement also described an exclusive SteelBook and Rose Belmont tarot card for the physical Midnight Edition through select EMEA retailers, subject to local retailer availability and stock. Those are region- and retailer-specific incentives, not a promise that every physical Midnight Edition includes them.
US digital prices listed for Xbox
The US Xbox listing showed Standard at $29.99 and Midnight at $39.99 when checked on October 13, 2026. These are storefront prices for that US listing on that date, not global prices or a guarantee of the price at purchase. Check your regional store for the current total.
Which platform or edition should you choose?
There is no single best choice established by the official information. Use the practical differences below rather than assuming one version has better image quality or performance than another.
- For demo continuity: buy or play the full game on the same platform and account as the demo if you want the stated save-transfer option.
- For a lower listed frame rate: Konami lists Switch at 30 fps and the other platforms at 60 fps. Those are specifications, not independently measured comparisons.
- For storage planning: Konami lists the full game at 8 GB Standard or 10 GB Midnight for the non-Switch platform group, and 4 GB or 6 GB on Switch. The demo’s separate minimums are listed above.
- For a physical copy: Standard is described as digital on Konami’s product page, while Midnight is listed in physical and digital form. Check the local store’s format and bonus details before purchase.
- For the art and music extras: Midnight is the listed edition with the separate gallery application and its three in-game bonuses. Alucard Style Costume is a separate early-purchase/preorder bonus.
Platform preference, account continuity, available storage, physical-versus-digital preference, and interest in the gallery are all clearer decision points than unverified claims about which version looks or runs best. The official listings supply platform-specific capacity and frame-rate figures but do not provide independent testing.
What content rating applies?
Konami lists an ESRB Teen rating. Nintendo’s US listing gives the content descriptors Blood, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Violence. The Nintendo descriptors are useful if you want more detail than the rating category alone; ratings and store notices can vary by region.
