The fourth game is Castlevania: Dracula X, also known as Castlevania: Vampire’s Kiss in Europe. It is a Super NES-era bonus rather than a fourth GBA game.
The GBA trilogy is the most concentrated exploration-oriented lineup of the three compilations. Each game asks you to move through a connected castle, find abilities or keys, return to previously inaccessible areas and develop a stronger character. The three games also show an evolution within one handheld generation: Circle of the Moon establishes the formula, Harmony of Dissonance changes its presentation and systems, and Aria of Sorrow refines the structure with its own identity.
Choose Advance if the phrase “Which Castlevania collection has the GBA games?” is your main question: this is the answer. It is also a sensible first purchase for players who prefer interconnected maps and progression over short, self-contained stages. Dracula X adds a historically significant traditional entry, but the GBA trilogy is the reason to buy the collection.

Castlevania Dominus Collection: all three DS games and Haunted Castle
Konami announced Dominus Collection on August 26, 2024. The official product information gives it a release date of August 27, 2024, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

Its main lineup is the Nintendo DS trilogy:
- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
- Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
- Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
The collection also includes Haunted Castle, the arcade version of Castlevania, and Haunted Castle Revisited, described by Konami as a completely reimagined version of the first Castlevania arcade game.
Dominus is the direct answer to “Which collection includes the DS games?” It gathers the three DS-era entries in one package, while its arcade material gives the collection a different shape from Advance. The DS games continue the connected-map, character-progression approach associated with later Castlevania, but their individual mechanics and presentation differ. Haunted Castle and its reimagining provide a stage-based counterpoint to the longer DS adventures.
Because Dominus is the newest of the three compilations and its listed console versions target current-generation systems, it is the natural choice for someone whose priority is the DS era rather than the early history of the franchise.

Stage-based action versus castle exploration
Anniversary is the strongest fit for players who want stage-based action. Its principal games are organized around individual levels, boss fights and route learning. Simon’s Quest is a notable structural outlier within that set, but the collection as a whole represents the earlier format.

Advance and Dominus are better fits for exploration-oriented play. Their principal games use connected environments, ability-gated routes and longer-term character development. The distinction is editorial guidance from the documented lineups, not a publisher classification: it tells you what kind of session each compilation is most likely to support.
Extras and historical value
Anniversary’s value comes from range. It places several console generations and regional hardware branches beside one another, making it useful for tracing the series’ early design changes.
Advance’s extra is Dracula X, which broadens the package beyond GBA without distracting from its central trilogy.
Dominus has the most explicit new-content hook: Haunted Castle Revisited is a reimagined version of the first Castlevania arcade game, accompanied by the original Haunted Castle. That pairing makes Dominus more than a straightforward DS port collection.

Buy Advance Collection if you want the GBA trilogy
Advance is the focused recommendation for players who already know they prefer interconnected castles and progression systems. Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow are all present, so you are not choosing among the GBA entries or buying separate releases. Dracula X adds a traditional, stage-based game as a bonus.

Buy Dominus Collection if you want the DS trilogy
Dominus is the purchase for Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia. It is also the newest compilation in the lineup and the only one here with Haunted Castle and Haunted Castle Revisited.
Choose it over Advance when your interest is specifically the DS era, not simply exploration-focused Castlevania. Choose it over Anniversary when modern console availability and the DS trilogy matter more than NES and 16-bit history.
Buy the Switch bundle for the broadest catalog

The platform generations are not identical. Dominus is listed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while Anniversary and Advance are listed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Nintendo Switch and Steam appear across all three. If you are buying on a console, check the store page for your exact hardware and account region rather than assuming that availability transfers between generations.
Prices, editions and what the evidence supports
Konami’s 2019 announcement gave Anniversary Collection a suggested retail price of $19.99. That was the announced SRP, not a guarantee of its current price in 2026. The available information does not establish reliable current prices, discount schedules, physical inventory or review-score comparisons for any of the collections.
For Advance and Dominus, verify the current storefront price directly. For the Switch bundle, verify both the bundle’s contents and price in your region immediately before purchase. A sale, tax treatment, currency conversion or platform promotion can change the amount shown to you.
Common buying mistakes
Assuming Anniversary contains the GBA games
It does not. Anniversary contains two Game Boy games, but Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow are exclusive to the Advance Collection lineup described here.
Assuming Advance contains every handheld game
Advance is not a general handheld archive. Its principal games are the three GBA titles, with Dracula X as the bonus. The Game Boy entries are in Anniversary, and the DS trilogy is in Dominus.
Buying Dominus for NES or Super NES classics
Dominus is the DS-and-arcade package. If you want the original NES trilogy or Super Castlevania IV, Anniversary is the relevant collection.
Treating the bundle as a physical release without checking
Nintendo’s listing describes the Switch bundle, but the storefront details should be checked for your region. Confirm whether you are receiving downloads, a code or a physical product before completing the transaction.
