Choose one release before installing. Do not use a v1.5.2 client with a v1.5.1 server, or combine files from different releases. Modded servers commonly reject a connection when even one side has a different mod, configuration, Forge build, or Minecraft version.
Choose self-hosting or a managed server
Self-hosting gives you direct control over the server directory, Java arguments, backups, updates, and operating system. It also makes you responsible for keeping the process running, exposing the service to players, securing the machine, and diagnosing crashes. The project sources do not publish a complete self-hosting command sequence, CPU benchmark, RAM benchmark, player-capacity guarantee, or port-forwarding recipe, so those details must be validated on your own hardware and network.

Self-hosted setup, step by step
1. Select the exact release
Use the v1.5.2 release and its separately listed v1.5.2 Server Pack unless your group has deliberately chosen another version. Download the server artifact associated with the same release as the clients. A client download is not a substitute for a server pack.
2. Prepare a clean server directory
Create a new directory used only for this server. Extract the complete server-pack archive into it. Keep the pack’s libraries, mods, config files, and launch files together. Do not merge an older installation into the new directory and do not copy a player’s client folder over the server files.

The authoritative listing confirms the server-pack artifact but does not publish one universal command-line recipe or guarantee a particular script filename. After extraction, inspect the archive for the launch script or command supplied with that release and use that file. The supplied script is safer than inventing a command because Forge launch details can differ between packs.
3. Install Minecraft Java Edition and matching Forge
The server and every client must use Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2 and the Forge version expected by the selected pack. The project is explicitly a Forge 1.19.2 project; installing a Fabric profile, a different Minecraft release, or an unrelated Forge build creates a compatibility mismatch even when the mod list looks similar.
4. Start once and accept the EULA
Run the server pack’s supplied launch script or command. On first startup, Minecraft normally generates its files and an EULA file. Open eula.txt, read the Minecraft EULA, and change the acceptance value only if you agree to its terms. Save the file, then start the server again with the pack’s supplied launcher.
5. Allocate enough memory
CurseForge documents 4 GB, or 4096 MB, as its default modpack allocation and advises users not to lower the allocation below 4 GB. Treat that as a practical baseline for this pack rather than a published server hardware guarantee. Leave additional memory for the operating system and other services, and watch the server log while testing. If the process reports out-of-memory symptoms, stop other workloads, increase the allocation where the machine has headroom, or reduce the number of simultaneous services.
6. Wait for a ready console
Let the server finish loading before attempting to connect. A successful startup should leave the Forge server process running and the console in its ready state. Test with a new world first so that a configuration problem does not put an existing save at risk. Once the test succeeds, stop the server cleanly and make a backup before inviting players.

7. Install the identical client profile
Each player should create or import the Cave Horror Project 2 profile for the exact release selected in step 1. Confirm all three identifiers on the client: Minecraft 1.19.2, Forge, and the modpack version. Pine Hosting’s support guidance states that a launcher must support the server’s version and installed modpacks to connect. A launcher that cannot install or run the server’s combination cannot be repaired by changing only the server address.
8. Share the address only after testing
Give players the server address after the console is ready and one client has completed a test connection. Network exposure, firewall rules, and port forwarding vary by operating system, router, and host; the project sources do not publish a universal recipe. Keep those settings specific to your environment and avoid presenting an untested port or command as a Cave Horror Project 2 requirement.
Managed-panel installation with Pine Hosting’s documented flow
Pine Hosting documents a panel-based installation for this pack. The labels below are the provider’s documented labels and may change if its interface changes.
- Log in to the hosting panel and select the server.
- Make sure the server is offline before changing its installed modpack.
- Open the Modpack tab.
- Choose CurseForge as the modpack source.
- Search for Cave Horror Project 2.
- Select the required release, currently v1.5.2 in the researched listing.
- Leave Wipe Server Files disabled unless you intentionally want existing files deleted.
- Install the modpack and wait for the panel to finish.
- Open the console and start the server.
- Install the matching client release for every player, then test one connection before distributing the address.
Enabling “Wipe Server Files” is destructive to the existing installation. Use it only when replacing the server deliberately and after preserving any world, configuration, or backup files you intend to keep.

- Minecraft: both sides must be on Java Edition 1.19.2.
- Modloader: both sides must use Forge, with the build expected by the selected pack.
- Pack release and files: both sides must use the same Cave Horror Project 2 release and its corresponding mods and configuration.
Install the profile through a launcher that supports the selected server version and modpack. If the launcher offers several Cave Horror Project 2 entries, compare the displayed release number rather than choosing the first result. Remove or disable an older profile before testing if you are unsure which instance is launching. Keep a copy of the profile’s version information so every player can compare it with the server administrator’s record.

The client says it has an incompatible version
Recheck Minecraft 1.19.2, Forge, and the exact modpack release on both sides. A v1.5.2 client cannot reliably join a v1.5.1 server. Have the server owner record the release selected during installation, then make each player select that same release instead of updating independently.
The launcher cannot find or install the pack
The launcher may not support the server’s installed version or modpack. Use a launcher that can run the required Forge 1.19.2 profile, or ask the host to install a release supported by the launcher your group uses. Changing the server address does not solve a launcher capability problem.

The server reports missing mods or rejects the handshake
Redownload the matching Server Pack and extract it into a clean directory. Do not mix a client’s mods or config folders with server files, and do not add files from another Cave Horror Project 2 release. If the pack was installed through a panel, reinstall the same listed release rather than uploading a random client archive.
The server stops during startup or runs out of memory
Keep the allocation at or above CurseForge’s documented 4 GB/4096 MB baseline where the machine permits it. Inspect the console for out-of-memory messages, stop unrelated applications, and test again. More memory is not a substitute for matching files: a version mismatch can fail even when ample RAM is available.

The server was reinstalled and the world disappeared
Check whether a panel reinstall was performed with “Wipe Server Files” enabled. On Pine Hosting, that option is specifically intended to delete existing files. Restore the world and configuration from a backup if one exists; otherwise, treat the incident as a warning to create and verify backups before future upgrades.
The console never reaches a ready state
Confirm that the server was launched with the script or command included in the downloaded pack, that the EULA has been accepted, and that the complete extracted directory is intact. Because the project’s authoritative pages do not publish one universal launch command, use the files supplied with your selected release rather than copying a command from an unrelated Forge server.
Players can launch the pack but cannot reach the address
First eliminate modpack mismatch by checking all three compatibility identifiers. If they match, investigate the host’s firewall, router, address, and provider status. There is no project-specific port-forwarding recipe in the published material, so apply the instructions for your operating system, router, or hosting panel and test from a separate connection when possible.
Memory, backups, and safe updates
Use 4096 MB as the minimum practical allocation baseline documented by CurseForge, then measure your own group’s behavior. A small test group and a large multiplayer session can produce different loading times and memory pressure. The available project sources do not promise a maximum player count or provide a CPU requirement, so do not advertise a capacity figure as guaranteed.
Before changing releases, stop the server cleanly and back up the world, configuration files, and any files your group has added. Install a new release in a separate directory or use the host’s backup and restore tools. Keep the old installation until the new one has loaded a test world and accepted a client connection. This makes rollback possible without mixing files from two releases.

Include the exact Minecraft version, Forge version, modpack release, whether the server is self-hosted or managed, and the relevant console or client error. Those details let others distinguish a genuine pack bug from a launcher mismatch, an incomplete server extraction, or a memory problem.
