Chelsea’s 2026/27 Premier League squad list names Emiliano Martínez, Mike Penders, Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Gabriel Slonina as goalkeepers. That is a list of registered options, not a confirmed selection order: Martínez is the senior summer signing, while the available evidence does not establish a definitive ranking among the other listed keepers. Several young goalkeepers, including Ted Curd, are developing on loan rather than forming part of the immediate first-team group.
Who is in Chelsea’s goalkeeper group for 2026/27?
The Premier League’s 2026/27 squad list names four Chelsea goalkeepers: Emiliano Martínez, Mike Penders, Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Gabriel Slonina. Chelsea’s summer 2026 transfer update says Martínez joined from Aston Villa. His senior status and new arrival distinguish him from the younger keepers, but neither fact proves he will start every match.
| Goalkeeper | 2026/27 status in the available sources | What that establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Emiliano Martínez | Listed in Chelsea’s Premier League squad; joined from Aston Villa in summer 2026. | A senior signing and a current first-team-listed goalkeeper, not a guaranteed starter. |
| Mike Penders | Listed in the Premier League squad and Chelsea men’s profiles. | A current first-team-listed goalkeeper; the listing does not rank him against teammates. |
| Teddy Sharman-Lowe | Listed in the Premier League squad and Chelsea profiles. | A current first-team-listed goalkeeper. Chelsea’s profile snapshot had two appearances, 153 minutes and zero clean sheets for the season when checked on 4 October 2026. |
| Gabriel Slonina | Listed in the Premier League squad and Chelsea men’s profiles. | A current first-team-listed goalkeeper; the reviewed sources do not provide comparable current-season minutes for a cross-player ranking. |
These are squad-status facts, not a matchday depth chart. Chelsea’s 2026 preseason tour information specifically cautioned that tour shirt numbers might not represent the final 2026/27 squad numbers. Shirt numbers and registration alone therefore should not be treated as reliable evidence of selection order.
Which young keepers are developing on loan?
A loan gives a goalkeeper a different development context, but it also means the player should be kept separate from the group available for Chelsea’s immediate matchday selection.

How to compare Chelsea’s young keepers fairly
Separate availability, senior experience, performance data and technical assessment. Combining those into one unsupported ranking can make very different kinds of evidence look comparable when they are not.

1. Check availability and pathway
Start with the current squad list and the latest club loan information. A first-team listing tells you a player is named in the squad; a loan destination tells you where a player is developing. Neither, by itself, tells you who will be selected next.
2. Put senior appearances in context
Record the competition, season and sample size with every appearances or minutes figure. Chelsea reports more than 3,000 senior minutes for Curd at Boreham Wood in 2025/26. Its live profile snapshot for Sharman-Lowe showed two appearances and 153 minutes in 2026/27 when checked on 4 October 2026. Those figures cover different seasons, contexts and sample sizes; they are not a head-to-head test.

3. Compare statistics from the same period and competition
If comparable current figures become available, use the same competition and date range for each goalkeeper. Minutes, save percentage, goals prevented and clean sheets can help describe performance, but they need team and sample-size context. The reviewed sources do not provide a complete comparable current-season statistical set for Penders, Slonina and Sharman-Lowe, so a statistical ranking among them is not established.
4. Treat technical judgments as scouting, not fact
Claims about distribution, command of the box or shot-stopping require attributable scouting observations or match evidence. The available sources do not support a definitive technical ranking of Chelsea’s young keepers. Without comparable evidence, it is more accurate to leave those qualities unranked than to infer them from age, squad status or loan placement.

What the depth chart can—and cannot—tell you
For 2026/27, the defensible split is between four goalkeepers named on the Premier League squad list and young keepers gaining experience on loan. Martínez is the senior summer signing within the listed group. The available squad, profile and transfer information does not establish a complete pecking order or a comparative ability ranking for the younger keepers.
