The carrier also reported the incident to police. The reported suspension is an airline action, not a confirmed court- or government-imposed ban.
What happened aboard the flight?
Reports say the incident took place during cabin service on a China Eastern flight from Hefei, Anhui province, to Dalian, Liaoning province. A food or beverage cart brushed the elbow of a sleeping male passenger. The attendant apologized and checked on him, according to accounts of the airline’s statements.
A witness cited by Seoul Economic Daily said the cart was moving slowly and that an ice pack was applied. Those details are attributed to the witness, rather than independently established findings.
Why did the passenger face airline action?
According to the airline’s account as relayed by news outlets, the passenger rejected the apology, used aggressive language and asked to kick the attendant. He also reportedly demanded that she accompany him to a hospital after the plane landed. A senior flight attendant and onboard security intervened.

No conviction or final legal outcome is established in the available reports. Seoul Economic Daily discusses possible penalties under China’s Public Security Administration Punishments Law as revised in 2025, but that general legal context does not show that any specific penalty was imposed in this incident.
