How many people left Supermassive Games?
PC Gamer reported on 5 October 2026 that LinkedIn posts by former employees indicated more than 70 people had left the studio. Frank Tindle, Supermassive’s IT and facilities director, wrote in a LinkedIn post, as quoted by PC Gamer: “More than 70 brilliant people are leaving Supermassive: developers, artists, producers, QA, operations and more.” He added: “Any studio would be lucky to have them.”

The reported timing does not establish that the commercial performance of Directive 8020 caused the cuts. The cited coverage does not provide a sales, revenue, or budget figure linking the game to the decision, and the studio’s stated reason was sustainability.

Bandai Namco describes the game as a cinematic science-fiction survival horror entry in The Dark Pictures series. Its story follows the crew of the colony ship Cassiopeia after it crash-lands on Tau Ceti f, where an alien organism can mimic its prey.
