Chrono Odyssey has a promising hook: action combat and exploration built around time manipulation. But it is still unreleased, and the June 2025 closed beta surfaced performance and stability problems the developer says it is still working to address. Whether the game can become a great modern MMO remains an open question—not a verdict the available evidence can support yet.
When does Chrono Odyssey come out?
Chrono Odyssey is an upcoming action MMORPG from Chrono Studio, published by Kakao Games. Its Steam listing gives its release date as “To be announced.” No confirmed launch window is established by the available official sources.

The game remains in development. Steam presents a seamless open world, time-manipulation combat, character customization, and Unreal Engine 5 as intended features. Those are store-page descriptions, not confirmation that every feature is final or a demonstration of how the finished game will perform.
What is Chrono Odyssey’s main hook?
The central pitch is to make time manipulation part of both combat and exploration, rather than a setting detail. The game is also presented as a seamless fantasy world with extensive character customization. If combat feels responsive and the world, encounters, and progression support each other, that combination could help the MMO stand apart. None of those qualities can yet be judged from a released game or an independently tested current build.

What systems has the developer described?
In Developer’s Notes #5, the studio outlined several systems as work in progress:
- Matrix progression: a node-based system intended to let players specialize their builds.
- NPC Supporter: optional assistance for some encounters.
- Monster-inspired equipment: gear drawing on the creatures in the game world.
The developer described these systems as under development and subject to change. Their eventual depth, balance, and role in long-term progression are not yet established.
What did the closed beta reveal about performance?
The PC closed beta ran on Steam from June 20 to June 22, 2025, and has ended. In Developer’s Notes #6, published September 22, 2026, the team said: “Performance and stability were among the most common concerns raised during the Closed Beta Test, particularly around frame drops and crashes.” It also said some cases struggled even on higher-end PCs.

- Mario embarks on a new journey through the unknown, running and jumping through huge 3D worlds in the first sandbox-style Mario game since Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine
- Jump out of the Mushroom Kingdom on a journey through mysterious places and new experiences whilst sailing between worlds aboard an airship
- Find something interesting? Toss your cap at it and see what happens! There are lots of fun and surprising ways to interact with your surroundings
- Compatible with the Nintendo Switch only
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the international version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
The statement reports the developer’s account of beta feedback; it does not quantify how many testers experienced problems or establish the performance of a current build. The team said it was evaluating multiple PC configurations with Quasar Zone to identify bottlenecks. The same update described continued work on movement and animations, input responsiveness, controls, and UI/UX. That indicates active iteration, not that the issues have been resolved.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsEarlier developer notes also addressed combat feedback, class balance, Matrix progression, optional NPC support, and quality-of-life changes. Taken together, the updates show that the studio has been adjusting important systems after the beta, while those systems remain subject to change.
What PC specs did the 2025 beta require?
The official June 6, 2025 beta announcement published the following PC specifications for that test. They are historical beta figures, not confirmed requirements for the final release.

| Category | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 | Windows 10 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-3570K or AMD FX-8310 | Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |

| DirectX | DirectX 11 | DirectX 12 |
| Available storage | 50 GB | 50 GB |
Because the developer has described ongoing PC optimization, these specifications should not be treated as a guarantee of performance or as a current hardware-buying recommendation.
Which platforms are planned?
The June 2025 beta announcement described a launch goal spanning Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic. That is an announced plan, not confirmation of final platform timing or a release date. The beta itself was a PC test on Steam; the available information does not establish that the other announced platforms will launch at the same time.

What would make Chrono Odyssey a great modern MMO?
The concept is promising, but a convincing judgment will depend on how the parts work together in a playable release. The most useful things to assess in a future build are:
- Combat feel: whether time-based abilities, controls, animations, and input response make fights precise and satisfying.
- Performance: whether stability and frame rates hold up across a range of PC hardware, not only high-end systems.
- Progression: whether the proposed Matrix system supports meaningful build choices over time.
- World and play: whether exploration, quests, encounters, and group activities give the open world a coherent purpose.
- Release certainty: whether the developer confirms a date and platform schedule.
Until those questions can be answered from a later playable build and the released game, calling Chrono Odyssey a great modern MMO would get ahead of the evidence. Its time-manipulation premise gives it a clear identity to pursue; the beta feedback and ongoing revisions make execution the real test.
