Is there a new Chrono Trigger game collection?
No. Square Enix’s official material available on October 18, 2026, documents Chrono Trigger as separate digital releases rather than a newly announced bundle containing multiple Chrono games. The current game edition is sold by platform, so buying it on one storefront does not mean you are receiving a package that also contains another Chrono title.

The word “collection” is causing confusion because Square Enix has also announced a physical music product. The CHRONO TRIGGER Original Soundtrack Vinyl LP Box collects the game’s music, not its video games. It contains 64 songs on four vinyl records, uses Akira Toriyama artwork on the jackets, and includes an MP3 download code for the tracks.
What the physical product actually is
Square Enix Music lists March 25, 2026, as the Japanese release date for the vinyl box. Square Enix Store North America describes an approximate April 2026 imported release. Those dates refer to the soundtrack box, not a new game compilation. Availability, inventory and final delivered timing can differ by store and region, so check the listing serving your country before ordering.

Which platforms currently have Chrono Trigger?
The documented modern edition is available through four storefront categories. The following table separates the platform from the type of release so that a soundtrack purchase is not mistaken for a game version.

Square Enix’s searched official listings do not identify a current version of this edition for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation or Xbox. That is an absence of a listing in the cited material, not proof that no other historical, regional or unofficial way to play exists. If you are shopping on a console, verify that the product is an official listing for that console before paying.
Choosing between PC and mobile
Steam is the clearest choice if you want a desktop installation, broad input configuration and the documented map-travel autosave. Mobile versions are the practical choice for playing on a phone or tablet and are the releases for which Square Enix’s announcement specifically discusses cloud-save functionality. Neither statement establishes that a save created on Steam can be imported into iOS or Android, or that an iOS save can be moved to Android. Treat each storefront and device ecosystem as its own save environment unless its current documentation says otherwise.

The Steam release adds convenience without removing the original save-point system. Square Enix describes an automatic save that triggers while you are traversing the map. You can still use the traditional save points, and you can save by quitting through the in-game menu.
Steam save options
- Map-travel autosave: the game automatically records progress while you are moving across the map.
- Save points: the original title’s save-point function remains available for deliberate, manual saves.
- Menu quit: use the menu’s quit option to save when leaving the game rather than relying only on an automatic event.
For important progress, use a save point or the menu-quit save before closing Steam, changing computers or experimenting with a difficult encounter. Autosave is a safety net, not a reason to assume every recent action has already been committed to your local files.

Do the mobile versions support cloud saves?
Square Enix’s PC/mobile release announcement says the mobile version includes cloud-save features. That confirms cloud functionality is part of the mobile release documentation, but it does not establish a single, universal cross-platform transfer system.
What cloud-save wording does and does not promise
- It indicates that mobile saves can use a cloud-based feature supported by the relevant mobile release.
- It does not promise that one save works interchangeably across Steam, iPhone/iOS, Android and Amazon Appstore.
- It does not specify one global procedure for restoring a save after changing operating systems, storefront accounts or devices.
Before starting a long playthrough, open the save or account settings shown in your version and confirm that synchronization is enabled. When moving to a replacement phone, use the same platform account and follow the restore instructions presented by the app. If you are changing from iOS to Android, Android to iOS or mobile to Steam, verify compatibility in the current store documentation rather than assuming that “cloud save” means cross-platform transfer.

What content is included in the modern edition?
The Steam and mobile-derived edition is more than a straight display change. Its documented additions cover two dungeons, presentation, controls and saving.
Dimensional Vortex
The Dimensional Vortex is one of the two additional dungeons included in the modern edition. Square Enix’s store description presents it as part of the content needed to complete the journey in this version. It is not a separate purchase listed alongside the base game.
Lost Sanctum
The forgotten Lost Sanctum is the second included extra dungeon. These two dungeons were first associated with the Nintendo DS and mobile releases, and they carry forward into the current Steam/mobile-derived edition.

The first-patch notes also identify an Original graphics setting. That gives players a way to select the documented original-style presentation option rather than treating the updated visuals as the only choice.

The Steam extras section documents an archive containing movies, illustrations, sound and endings after completion. These are completion-linked extras, not a separate game collection.
Ending archive behavior
Endings become viewable only after they have been unlocked and viewed. The archive warning also notes that, after an update, an ending may need to be watched again for its completion status to register. If an ending appears to be missing from the archive after you have already seen it, replaying that ending is the documented corrective step.
Launch bonus that is not guaranteed today
The Steam release offered a limited-time digital bonus package containing a music medley, Yasunori Mitsuda liner notes and six wallpapers. Square Enix described that package as limited to purchases made through April 2, 2018. It should therefore not be treated as a current guaranteed entitlement. A modern purchase may include the game and its regular extras without including that historical promotion.
Is there cross-save between Steam, iOS, Android and Amazon Appstore?
No universal cross-save policy is established in the official material summarized here. Mobile cloud-save support and Steam’s local saving features are documented, but those statements are not a promise that a single file can move among all four storefronts.

Use this decision process before buying a second copy:
- Identify the platform on which your existing save was created: Steam, iOS, Android or Amazon Appstore.
- Check the destination store’s current account and save instructions for your region.
- Confirm whether the destination uses the same operating-system account and cloud service as the source.
- Keep the original installation and save until the replacement device has successfully restored the file.
- If the destination is a different platform family, assume that transfer is unsupported until the store documentation explicitly says otherwise.

What is included in the vinyl soundtrack box?
If your interest is collecting physical Chrono Trigger memorabilia, the soundtrack box is the relevant current product. Square Enix Music describes:
- 64 songs.
- Four vinyl discs.
- Jacket artwork by Akira Toriyama.
- An MP3 download code for the tracks.
It is a music collection. It does not provide a Steam, iOS, Android or Amazon Appstore game license, and it does not add a new playable Chrono Trigger title. The Japanese listing’s March 25, 2026 date and the North American store’s approximate April 2026 imported-release description should be read as region-specific product information, not as a worldwide game-launch date.
