What was the 30th-anniversary mobile price?
Square Enix’s March 2025 campaign marked the game’s 30th anniversary with a “one-coin” sale. The Japanese smartphone upgrade edition cost ¥480, down from ¥1,600, a 70% discount. Those figures are for Japan and should not be treated as the price in other countries. The campaign also discounted the Steam version in Japan, but that was a separate platform offer.
Is Chrono Trigger on sale on mobile now?
The anniversary sale has ended. Indexed US listings for CHRONO TRIGGER (Upgrade Ver.) on the Apple App Store and Google Play show a $4.99 price alongside 50%-off promotional copy. Square Enix identifies the mobile release as an upgrade edition for iPhone and Android. Its product description says it includes extra content introduced in the Nintendo DS edition, including the Dimensional Vortex and Lost Sanctum, as well as updated graphics and sound. The game’s time-spanning RPG adventure visits eras including the present, the Middle Ages, the future, prehistory, and ancient times. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Was there another sale after the anniversary offer?
Yes. Square Enix announced a separate Japan Golden Week sale in 2026, listing the mobile upgrade edition at ¥800 instead of ¥1,600 across the App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, and Square Enix Market. That later regional sale did not extend the 2025 anniversary promotion. Square Enix’s Golden Week announcement covers that campaign.
