What Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite includes
Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite is a performance-focused medieval-fantasy adventure pack by franciscogolden. The CurseForge listing targets Minecraft 1.19.2 on Forge and identifies the client release as Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG [Lite]-16f.zip, dated July 18, 2025. The same project lists a separate server archive named CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip. The listing showed 587,371 downloads when accessed in 2026; that number is a platform counter, not a measure of server performance.

The two archives serve different purposes. The ordinary Lite zip is for a player’s game instance. The server zip is assembled for a dedicated server and contains the mod jars, configuration files, and startup script needed by the server process. Selecting the client download for a server is the most common setup mistake because it can omit server-ready files or include client-only content.
Prerequisites before you install
- A computer or rented instance that can keep a Java process running continuously. The pack’s published estimates start at 4 GB for one player and rise as players, view distance, and unexplored terrain increase.
- Java 17. Verify the active runtime from a terminal with
java -versionbefore troubleshooting Forge. - The exact Forge-based Minecraft 1.19.2 pack release you intend to run. Do not mix the v16f server archive with a different client release.
- Administrative access to create files, run Java, and allow the server through the operating-system firewall.
- For internet play, control of your router or gateway so you can forward TCP port 25565 to the server computer.
Keep the server in a short, dedicated directory such as CARPG-Lite-Server. Avoid placing it inside a cloud-synchronised folder while installing; synchronisation can lock files while Forge is generating configurations.

Install the server manually
1. Extract the dedicated server archive
Download CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip, not the similarly named client zip, and extract every file into the server directory. Preserve the folder structure supplied by the archive. The included jars, configs, and startup script are intended to work together, so do not copy individual mods from a separate download.
2. Check Java 17
Open a terminal in the extracted directory and run:
java -version
The output should identify Java 17. If it reports an older release, install a 17-compatible Java runtime and make sure the terminal’s PATH points to that installation. If multiple Java versions are installed, call the Java 17 executable by its full path in the startup script rather than relying on the default association.
3. Install Forge if the archive does not already contain it
Inspect the extracted files for a Forge installer or an already generated Forge server layout. When the loader is not installed, place the supplied installer in the server directory and run:
java -jar forge-installer.jar --installServer
Use the actual installer filename if it differs. The command must be executed from the directory that will hold the server files. Let the installer finish before launching the start script; interrupting it can leave a partial library tree that looks like a Java failure on the next boot.

4. Accept Minecraft’s EULA
Start the server once using the supplied script or Java command. The first run creates eula.txt and normally stops. Open that file, change the setting to:
eula=true
Save it, then start the server again. You must accept the EULA yourself; changing the file does not grant permission to redistribute the game or pack.
5. Give the process an initial memory budget
Set the maximum heap to approximately 6 GB by placing -Xmx6G in user_jvm_args.txt or in the supplied startup script, depending on how the archive is organised. Leave enough physical memory for the operating system and other services. A machine with exactly 6 GB total RAM cannot safely dedicate all of it to Java.
6. Start and wait for the completion line
Launch the script from a terminal so you can read errors. On the first successful boot, Forge registers the pack’s mods and creates configuration files; this can take several minutes. Wait for the console’s Done line before deciding that the server is stalled. Repeatedly killing and restarting the process during this phase can interrupt configuration generation and create misleading follow-up errors.
Configure networking for friends
Local testing
First connect from the same computer or local network. This confirms that Java, Forge, the pack files, and the world can load before router settings complicate the diagnosis. The server listens on the default Minecraft port, TCP 25565, unless you deliberately change it.

Internet access
- Assign the server computer a stable local address through your router’s DHCP reservation or a static network configuration.
- Create a port-forwarding rule for TCP port 25565 from the router’s public interface to that local address and port 25565.
- Allow the Java server through the computer’s firewall. Permit the same TCP port rather than opening every inbound port.
- Give players your current public address and port. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary forwarding may not work; in that case use a reachable host or a managed service.
Do not expose administrative panels or unrelated services just to make Minecraft reachable. Test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot, because a connection from inside the same LAN can succeed even when the public route is blocked.
What each player must install
Every player needs the identical Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite release, including the same Minecraft 1.19.2 and Forge combination. For this edition, that means matching the server’s v16f files rather than mixing a newer client zip with the v16f server archive. A mismatch can cause the server to refuse the connection or allow a connection while content is missing.
Players should install the pack in their own launcher profile and allocate enough memory for the client independently of the server. Client-only shaders, HUD additions, and texture mods belong in the player’s instance; do not place them in the dedicated server’s mods directory. If a player has added optional client modifications, remove them temporarily when diagnosing a join failure so that the baseline installation is identical.
How much RAM does the server need?
There is no independent benchmark establishing one universal allocation. The figures below are provider estimates for this pack and should be treated as starting points rather than guarantees. FadeHost bases its recommendation partly on a server-pack download size of about 597 MB and on expected growth as the world fills. WinterNode recommends 8 GB, while Game Host Bros suggests beginning at 6 GB.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Use case | Suggested RAM | Basis and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| One player | 4 GB | FadeHost estimate; actual usage varies with exploration and settings. |
| Two to four friends | 6 GB | FadeHost estimate and the practical starting point used by Game Host Bros. |
| Five to ten players | 8 GB | FadeHost estimate; WinterNode also recommends 8 GB for this pack. |
| Public or heavily populated server | 10 GB | FadeHost estimate; player count, view distance, and world generation can require more. |
Monitor the Java process while several players explore new terrain. Increase the heap when the server approaches its limit, pauses during garbage collection, or reports out-of-memory errors, but do not assign more memory than the machine can physically provide. CPU speed, storage latency, simulation distance, and concurrent world generation can become the bottleneck before the heap is full.

Managed hosting versus running it yourself
A managed host removes much of the operating-system and router work. The host installs the server pack, Forge, and Java from a control panel, keeps the instance online in its data centre, and usually supplies browser-based console access. You still need to select the exact v16f server archive and ensure that clients use the matching release.
What the listed providers describe
- FadeHost describes an exact-pack flow that installs the server pack, Forge, and Java, and advertises an 8 GB trial. Confirm the trial’s duration, renewal terms, location, and resource limits before relying on it.
- WinterNode describes one-click deployment and recommends 8 GB for this pack. Check whether backups, CPU allocation, and migration assistance are included in the specific plan.
- Game Host Bros describes a four-step exact-pack installation flow beginning at 6 GB. Verify the available locations, storage limits, backup schedule, and upgrade policy for the plan you select.
These are provider descriptions, not independent performance tests. Availability, pricing, trial terms, and included features can change, so read the current order page and service terms before paying.
Decision table
| Consideration | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Control | Full access to Java flags, files, firewall, and operating system. | Control is mediated by the host’s panel and policies. |
| Upfront effort | You install Java and Forge, configure the firewall, and forward the router port. | The host’s exact-pack workflow handles the initial software setup. |
| Recurring cost | Uses hardware and electricity you already own; internet service still matters. | Requires a recurring hosting payment; exact price is not stated here. |
| RAM scaling | Limited by the physical machine unless you replace or upgrade it. | Usually changed by selecting a larger plan, subject to the host’s limits. |
| Backups and migration | You must schedule, verify, and store backups yourself. | Tools may be available, but frequency, retention, and downloadable access vary by plan. |
| Troubleshooting | You diagnose Java, Forge, networking, storage, and operating-system errors. | Support can handle infrastructure issues, while pack-version and client-mod problems remain yours. |
| Location and latency | Players connect to your home network’s location. | You can choose from the host’s available data-centre regions. |
Choose self-hosting when you need file-level control and already have suitable hardware and a reachable connection. Choose managed hosting when continuous uptime, a control panel, automated deployment, or a data-centre location matters more than operating-system access.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Backups and safe pack updates
Back up before changing the pack, Forge installation, Java runtime, or configuration. Stop the server cleanly, copy the world directory and the server’s configuration and script files to storage outside the live instance, and label the backup with the pack release and date. Keep at least one copy that is not mounted as the live server directory.
When updating, pin the same release on the server and every client. Change one variable at a time: make the backup, replace the pack files, boot once with no optional client additions, and wait for Done. If the new release fails, stop the process and restore the previous server directory and backup rather than repeatedly restarting a partially upgraded world.

Troubleshooting startup and connection failures
The console exits immediately
- Run
java -version; Java 17 is required for this setup. - Confirm that you extracted the dedicated server archive and are launching from its directory.
- If Forge was not installed, run the installer with
--installServerand wait for completion. - Read the first error in the console rather than the final cascade of missing-class messages. A partial Forge installation often produces many secondary errors.
The first boot appears frozen
Mod registration and configuration generation can take several minutes. Leave the process running until the console prints Done. Repeated restarts can interrupt file creation and make the next launch fail even though the original process was progressing normally.
The server reports out-of-memory errors or severe pauses
Check the current -Xmx value and compare it with the machine’s total RAM. Start around 6 GB for a small group, then move toward the provider estimates for larger groups or heavier exploration. Close unrelated applications and watch whether world generation or player count causes the spike.
A player is refused or sees missing content
Compare the client’s Minecraft version, Forge build, and pack release with the server’s files. Remove client-only additions while testing. A client and server that are not built from the same release can be rejected or load an incomplete set of content.
Friends cannot connect from outside the house
- Verify that the server is listening on TCP 25565.
- Check the operating-system firewall rule and the router’s forwarding destination.
- Test using the public address from a different network.
- If the public address is behind carrier-grade NAT, ask the internet provider about a reachable address or move the server to managed hosting.
Forge or mods fail after an update
Restore the pre-update backup, then confirm the exact Forge and pack versions. Do not copy a mixture of old and new jars into the same directory. Reintroduce changes only after a clean boot and a confirmed client connection.
