In the second phase, shoot the red-flashing lamps in the order they light up to interrupt the ritual and prevent Sword of Light. The boss is the required encounter at the end of Stone Wave Cliffs, and the fight has two phases.
Where to find Lampmaster and what to expect
Lampmaster is at the end of Stone Wave Cliffs and serves as the final boss of Act I. Depleting its first health bar triggers a cutscene and a second phase with a fresh health bar and additional attacks. Gameranx’s May 13, 2025 guide describes the encounter and its attack patterns.

Gustave, Lune, Maelle, and Sciel are available for party selection at this point. Gameranx recommends Lune for Burn, Maelle for Swift Stride into Virtuose Stance and damage skills such as Piercee or Fluent Fury, and Sciel for building Foretells. This is one suggested approach, not a required party setup.
How to handle the first phase
Control the lanterns with Free Aim
Four floating lanterns fire Light spears at the party. When the lanterns glow, use Free Aim to shoot them and interrupt the attack. Gameranx’s suggested tactic is to leave one lantern lit: that limits the incoming attack to one shot to parry, creating an opportunity for a counterattack. You can instead prioritize damage, but controlling the lamps can interrupt their linked attacks.

Read the delayed attacks
Do not defend as soon as Lampmaster starts an animation. Several attacks are delayed; watch the motion and time your response to the actual strike.
- Jumping attack: Lampmaster jumps and then delays before slamming its sword at one party member. Wait for the slam cue before dodging or parrying.
- Dark Explosion: A delayed, single-target slam. Watch for the strike rather than reacting to the initial animation.
- Power of its Lamps: The boss creates a purple pulse and turns any remaining lanterns purple. After a second pulse, a Dark wave hits the party. Parry as the second pulse collapses, using the visual cue rather than relying on a fixed frame count.
What changes in the second phase
Jump over the wave
For the ball-of-light attack, Lampmaster gathers light beneath itself and sends an exploding wave toward the party. Jump over the wave rather than treating it like a standard strike to parry.

Distinguish the two four-hit combos
Both combos contain delayed sword motions, so their opening cue helps identify which sequence is coming. In either case, follow the attack through its pauses instead of pressing defense at the first animation.
- Arm Combo: A roar signals the four-hit sequence. Watch for the delayed sword motions and respond to each strike.
- Flying Combo: Lampmaster flies toward a target without the roar, then uses delayed overhead attacks and a return slash. Keep tracking the sequence through the return attack.
Shoot the ritual lamps in the order they flash
Lampmaster flashes its lanterns red in a random order. Use Free Aim to shoot each lamp in the order it flashes; completing the sequence interrupts the ritual and deals damage. If the sequence is not interrupted, the boss follows with Sword of Light. Gameranx describes that follow-up as a delayed horizontal swing affecting the party, while a community wiki describes a four-hit party attack that inflicts Blight. Since those accounts differ, the reliable tactical advice is to interrupt the ritual rather than assume a particular hit count or status effect.

Damage choices and elemental information
A community boss reference and Neoseeker’s search excerpt report that Lampmaster has no elemental weakness and resists Light; the community reference also reports no absorption. These are secondary references, and they do not establish every patch or difficulty condition, so avoid building a plan around Light damage. The community wiki’s Lampmaster entry was last updated September 24, 2026; Neoseeker’s Lampmaster reference also reports no weakness and Light resistance.
For a damage setup, Gameranx recommends applying Burn with Lune, building Sciel’s Foretells, and using Maelle’s stance and damage skills. Its guide also says status effects and Foretells carry from phase one into phase two, so setup before the transition can contribute to the opening of the second phase. Treat this as a strategy recommendation, not a guaranteed result.

Choose defense by the attack cue
| Attack cue | Response described by the guide |
|---|---|
| Glowing lanterns firing Light spears | Free Aim the lanterns to interrupt; if one remains lit, parry its shot for a counterattack. |
| Jumping sword strike or Dark Explosion | Wait through the delay, then dodge or parry the single-target slam. |
| Second pulse of Power of its Lamps collapsing | Parry the incoming Dark wave at that visual cue. |
| Ball of light gathering beneath the boss | Jump over the wave. |
| Roar before the Arm Combo | Track and defend against four delayed hits. |
| Flying approach without a roar | Track the Flying Combo’s overhead attacks and return slash. |
| Lanterns flashing red in sequence | Shoot them in that order to interrupt the ritual. |
There is no universally superior defense in these descriptions: the correct response depends on the move. Use lamp control when the lantern mechanic is active, and rely on the attack’s timing and visual cue for the rest.
