Sprong is an optional boss in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Its attacks follow a staged pattern, and several moves gain extra strikes as its health falls. Focus on learning each attack’s timing, then dodge or parry rather than looking for an elemental weakness: the guides reviewed do not document one.
Where to find Sprong
Sprong is an optional overworld boss on the Continent. The community wiki places it in water near the Endless Tower, while a Neoseeker walkthrough puts it southwest of Blade’s Graveyard and says Esquie’s swimming ability is needed to reach it. These landmarks differ, so use them as regional clues rather than a confirmed exact route.

Neoseeker says you can attempt the fight earlier, but recommends returning around Act III and describes level 60 as appropriate. That is the walkthrough’s recommendation, not a game requirement or universal minimum.
How Sprong’s attack cycle works
Gameranx’s boss guide describes a repeating sequence of five stages. Watch the stage prompt and treat each as a timing lesson; the exact number of strikes can increase as Sprong loses health.

- Beam volley: Energy gathers around Sprong’s central orb before the beams fire. The guide describes three shots close together, followed by a delayed final shot. Avoid reacting only to the first volley; later phases add more beams.
- Multi-hit combo: The combo can grow longer as the fight progresses. Respond to each hit rather than assuming the sequence ends after its early-phase length.
- Charge turn: Use this window to heal or apply a buff if needed, while preparing for the powerful follow-up.
- Powerful follow-up: This is the major attack after the charge. Gameranx says breaking Sprong during the charge stage interrupts it and triggers a defensive move that applies Defenseless; the guide also says that move cannot be dodged. Treat this as a guide-reported tactic, not a guaranteed result for every build or game version.
How to defend and deal damage
Learn the timing of the slams and individual beam shots, and use dodges or parries to avoid damage. Game8’s guide notes that successful parries can enable counterattacks, so parrying can reward accurate timing; dodging is also a documented defensive option. The available guides do not establish one as universally better for this encounter.
No reviewed guide documents a special elemental weakness or resistance for Sprong, so there is no supported elemental counter to build around. Prioritize reliable damage and defenses you can execute consistently.

What Sprong drops
The guides identify Cheater Pictos as the main reward. The wiki says an equipped character can act twice in a row on its turn, and Neoseeker also lists three Grandiose Chroma Catalysts. The wiki lists a Sprong achievement. Check the reward screen in your game for the exact items and achievement status.
