Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Patch 1.2.3 went live on May 9, 2025. Its headline balance change reduced Stendhal damage by 40%, while weapon scaling and a Medalum Lumina were corrected. The update also addressed ultrawide display behavior, controller and mouse-and-keyboard issues, map and Esquie movement traps, and other bugs. These are the notes for that historical patch, not a guide to the game’s current version.
Weapon and skill changes
The official Patch 1.2.3 notes describe the weapon changes as fixes and tuning. The listed attribute grades are starting scaling and maximum-level outcomes, not rankings of which weapon is best.

Platform, display, and input fixes
Steam Deck, PC Game Pass, and ultrawide displays
- Steam Deck: corrected backgrounds that were not displaying properly in various menus.
- PC Game Pass: added compatibility for PS5 controllers.
- Ultrawide: fixed gameplay zooming in after a cutscene, stretched imagery in the Options menu, and combat UI layout.
- Changing settings no longer minimizes the game. Cutscenes no longer letterbox at 32:9, and the title screen displays fullscreen at ultrawide resolutions.
Mouse and keyboard
- Expedition Menu button prompts are visible and can be triggered with keyboard input.
- Fixed mouse buttons becoming unresponsive after their first use.
- WASD or arrow-key navigation no longer hides the cursor instead of performing the intended action.
- Fixed a left-click issue that blocked keyboard menu navigation.
- Fixed mouse input being lost after the first Jump counterattack when the button was pressed once.
World-map and Esquie movement traps
The update fixed multiple locations where the player could become stuck while exploring or moving Esquie. The official notes identify these world-map locations:
- Between lanterns near the Stone Wave Cliff portal.
- On the shipwreck near the Forgotten Battlefield entrance.
- Between lanterns near the Bourgeon encounter.
- Among rocks between Spring Meadows and Abbest Cave.
- Between vases and corals when jumping from rooftops.
- Among various rocks, in ruins behind the Flying Manor entrance, near the bridge between Flying Waters and Spring Meadows, and in rocks near Flying Waters.
- Beside hardened land near the Flying Waters exit.
Esquie-specific fixes address falling through paint bridges on takeoff and getting stuck beneath levitating structures near Visages, near the Flying Waters entrance, and near a giant hammer by Blades’ Graveyard.

Other gameplay and quest fixes
- The Stone Wave Cliffs boss encounter can now be completed in NG+.
- Fixed a Journal UI block that could occur after opening the first Journal in Spring Meadows.
- Fixed being unable to shoot in free aim while exploring because of worn triggers.
- Fixed Lune and Monoco spawning in the same place at the end of their Level 6 relationship quests if both were completed without going to camp.
- Fixed a black screen caused by quickly choosing “remember the objective,” then “go to sleep,” then “leave.”
- Fixed an issue that let players trigger the second Old Lumière cutscene twice in a row, which could split the party indefinitely.
- Updated the rolling credits.
Release date and context
Patch 1.2.3 was released May 9, 2025. The official patch page was later updated June 11, 2025; that is the page-update date, not the patch’s release date. The post called this the first in a series of patches the team was looking to make over the coming months and said it was still investigating feature requests and issues. That was a statement about plans at the time, not a current roadmap commitment.
The official news index lists later updates, including Patch 1.4.0 and the free Thank You update, so Patch 1.2.3 should be treated as a May 2025 historical update rather than the current game version.
