Why 436 is not the number of wins at The Game Awards
The aggregate should not be confused with the results of a single ceremony. At The Game Awards 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won nine awards, including Game of the Year, from 12 nominations, according to publisher Sega (Sega). Those nine wins are one part of the broader awards story, not an alternative count for the 436 selections.

These ceremony results show that the award run continued, but they cannot simply be added to 436 to create a current aggregate: the announcements do not establish that their categories and counting rules match the user-maintained tally.
Is 436 the current all-time total?
No current total under the same counting method is established by the cited sources. The supported claim is that the game had 436 reported selections on January 21, 2026, when it passed Elden Ring’s 429. Later wins are documented individually, but no updated comprehensive tally using consistent rules is provided. Treat 436 as a dated milestone, not a confirmed October 2026 total.

What kind of game is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
Sega describes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as a reactive, turn-based RPG with real-time combat. It is set in Lumière, a fantasy world inspired by France’s Belle Époque. Each year, the Paintress marks a number on a monolith, and people of that age die; Expedition 33 sets out to break the cycle (Sega’s game details).
Sega lists the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store). The publisher’s product details specify that a package edition is available for PS5 only.
