Which problems does Patch v1.5.3 address?
Save and gameplay issues
- Missing journal pickups: The patch fixes an issue involving journal collection and save loading that could permanently prevent a pickup. Missing journals are restored retroactively on affected saves.
- Chromatic Glissando soft lock: The notes address a soft lock in the Chromatic Glissando encounter in Sirene’s Dress level, triggered under a particular combination involving a dead character and equipped pictos.
- Gestral Beach save blockage: A problem that could block saving after rematching following a loss in the volleyball minigame is fixed.
- Inverted eye color: The eye-color effect for characters under Inverted has been corrected.
Photo Mode
- Facial hair no longer appears blurred at close range when Shading is set to Epic.
- The Inner Cone Angle and Outer Cone Angle controls now affect the preview light shape.
- Spotlight and point-light displays have been adjusted for visibility.
Sirene crash report
The patch’s section titled “Update On Sirene Crash” says the team could not reproduce the crash that occurred after defeating Sirene during its internal investigation. The official wording is: “After a thorough internal investigation, the crash that occurred after defeating Sirene can no longer be reproduced on our end.” That is a report about the team’s investigation, not confirmation that every player’s crash has been resolved. For players who still encounter it, the note recommends updating Windows and submitting a report if the crash continues; the team says it will keep investigating.
Environments and Steam Deck lighting
The fixes include collision problems, misplaced assets, and footstep sound issues in Verso’s Drafts, the World Map, and other levels. The notes also list lighting corrections on Steam Deck in Verso’s Drafts, Endless Tower, and Stone Wave Cliffs. They do not provide performance benchmarks or quantify the effect of those lighting changes.

What the update does—and does not—tell players
For players affected by the journal issue, the retroactive restoration is the clearest direct save benefit: affected saves should regain the missing journals without requiring a new run. The other fixes target specific gameplay, Photo Mode, crash-report, and environment issues. The patch notes do not state exact simultaneous rollout timing by platform, report how many players were affected, or claim measured performance gains.
