Costco was reported in September 2025 to have no plans going forward to carry Xbox consoles, but that does not establish a worldwide end to Xbox sales at Costco. The report concerned a statement relayed by commentator Destin Legarie; Costco’s U.S. online Xbox category showed no matching items, while Canadian Costco pages showed an Xbox Series X bundle. Local warehouse inventory may differ from what appears online.
What did Costco reportedly confirm?
In September 2025, commentator Destin Legarie said Costco told him, “We don’t have any plans going forward to carry an Xbox console.” Windows Central reported Legarie’s account. It was not a formal Costco press release or a direct statement from a named Costco executive.
The wording describes Costco’s plans going forward, as reported at that time. It does not by itself establish that every Costco location or country had stopped selling Xbox consoles.
Does Costco still sell Xbox consoles?
United States
Costco’s U.S. Xbox category page returned no matching items in the captured result. Costco cautions that products available in warehouses may not appear online and advises shoppers to check local inventory. An empty online category therefore does not confirm that every U.S. warehouse has no Xbox stock. See Costco’s U.S. Xbox category.

Canada
Costco Canada’s category page and a Canada-specific product listing showed an Xbox Series X bundle. That is evidence that the U.S. online result should not be treated as a worldwide Costco policy, but a live listing is not a guarantee of current stock. See Costco Canada’s Xbox results.
At a local warehouse
Online listings and warehouse stock can differ. Check the inventory for your location or contact the warehouse before making a trip; a missing result on Costco.com does not settle what a particular store has available.

Why is Costco stopping Xbox sales?
The reported account described the decision as a business decision, but the located coverage did not establish a detailed reason. SlashGear reported that Costco had not publicly shared one. Claims that the decision was caused by console pricing, sales performance, tariffs, or Microsoft’s strategy are not supported by these reports. Read SlashGear’s coverage.

In an Xbox Wire update published June 25, 2026, Microsoft announced worldwide console price increases effective August 1, 2026: US$100 for 512 GB models and US$150 for 1 TB models. Microsoft also said it would sunset the 2 TB model. These are Microsoft’s announced changes, not Costco-specific pricing or an explanation of Costco’s reported decision. Microsoft attributed its own pricing update to higher console storage and memory costs, saying those costs had risen by more than 2.5 times and that it expected another doubling by fall 2027. That explanation concerns Microsoft’s pricing, not Costco’s retail plans.
The same update discussed purchases through Microsoft Stores and retail partners, along with financing options and retail partner programs for previously played consoles. It did not connect those options or the price changes to Costco.
