What is CLUTCH?
CLUTCH is Maverick Games’ debut title, developed by the studio and published by Focus Entertainment Publishing. Focus announced the game on August 24, 2026, describing it as an open-world racing game. Focus Entertainment’s announcement calls it a project by Forza veterans, while PC Gamer identifies Mike Brown as the former creative director of Playground Games, the studio behind Forza Horizon. The publisher announcement does not specify Brown’s individual Forza credits.
Brown is Maverick Games’ founder and CEO. In the announcement, he said: “We founded Maverick Games to build the open-world racing experience we’d dreamed about for years.”
When does CLUTCH release, and on which platforms?
Focus Entertainment lists a Spring 2027 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Steam listing gives the release year as 2027 and currently marks the game as not yet available; it also offers a wishlist option. The official CLUTCH website lists the same platforms and launch window. These are announced plans, not a confirmed launch date, and could change before release.

Where is the game set, and what is its story?
CLUTCH takes place on the French Riviera, where professional racing and underground street racing occupy two sides of the game’s world. The publisher describes players as racing outsiders balancing professional motorsport by day with a dangerous underground scene by night.
The official site and Steam description name siblings Theo and Cass Martial, who become caught up in a conspiracy connected to the racing world. Jamie Brittain, co-creator of Skins, is writing the original story, and Focus highlights character-driven storytelling. The available descriptions establish the setup, not the story’s full plot or how it unfolds during play.

What gameplay features have been announced?
Confirmed descriptions point to open-world racing, professional events, underground street races, pursuits, and vehicle customization. Focus describes deep customization, while Steam mentions car personalization and race-and-chase gameplay. The announcement does not establish a driving model, handling characteristics, specific vehicles, multiplayer modes, or detailed activity list. Those should not be treated as confirmed features until the studio or publisher provides more detail.
For now, CLUTCH is known through its announcement and store description rather than hands-on evidence. There is no basis yet for judging its performance, driving feel, review quality, or how complete its eventual feature set will be.

What is confirmed about editions and extras?
The consulted official sources confirm digital platform plans and a Steam wishlist, but do not confirm a physical edition, merchandise, or a CLUTCH-specific accessory. No particular controller or steering wheel is identified as a recommended or required product for the game.

The announcement gives a clear premise and release target, but leaves practical questions open. More detail from Maverick Games or Focus Entertainment would be needed to establish the driving model, multiplayer support, edition options, and specific gameplay activities beyond the broad race-and-chase description. Until then, the firmest picture is an open-world Riviera racer built around a narrative contrast between professional motorsport and underground racing.
