Asked which match fans should use to continue the rivalry in WWE 2K26, McIntyre joked that players should choose one of the game’s more punishing contests:

“I mean, where was the most violent? I was thinking dumpster because it’s a new one, but I just heard there’s an Inferno one, so you can just set him on fire and it may actually improve his looks.”
When asked what match players should use for Punk’s revenge, Punk answered: “Well, Hell in a Cell. Watch me whip his ass all over again.” Both remarks were reported in TheSportster’s interview; they are the wrestlers’ banter, not official guidance from WWE or the game’s developer.

McIntyre also took aim at the game’s cover
McIntyre complained that Punk received the WWE 2K26 cover spotlight instead of him, and argued he would have been a better choice. The report’s longer passage contains an apparent transcription error, so the complaint is best summarized rather than quoted verbatim.
Where the Creator Fest exchange fits in their feud
TheSportster traces the rivalry’s start to Punk’s torn triceps injury after the 2024 Royal Rumble. In its account of the subsequent matches, McIntyre beat Punk at SummerSlam in 2024, before Punk won their strap match at Bash in Berlin and their Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. That sequence explains the personal edge in Punk’s answer; it is the chronology reported by TheSportster, not a current update on either wrestler’s status.

Creator Fest and the game context
TheSportster’s interview was published February 23, 2026, following Creator Fest at WWE Headquarters. A CGMagazine preview syndicated by Yahoo said the event took place February 19 and reported that the game’s standard release was scheduled for March 13, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Those are launch-era details, not confirmation of current platform support or availability.
The interview connects the feud directly to match types players can stage in the game: McIntyre named Dumpster and Inferno, while Punk chose Hell in a Cell. The Creator Fest preview also discussed Three Stages of Hell, but neither wrestler named it in this exchange.
