Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (MWII) has had documented bugs that incorrectly kicked active players for inactivity. Activision recorded fixes in December 2022 and May 2023, but those historical patch notes do not establish whether the issue can recur on a current build or affect every platform. If it happens to you, record the details and report the repeatable behavior through Activision’s support channels rather than assuming there is a universal workaround.
What Activision’s patch notes confirm
Activision’s Season 01 Reloaded patch notes, published in December 2022, list this fix: “Fixed an issue that caused active Players to be incorrectly removed from the match due to inactivity.” The Season 03 Reloaded notes, published in May 2023, later list: “Fixed an issue causing Players to be incorrectly removed from matches for inactivity.”
These entries establish that MWII had false inactivity removals and that Activision recorded fixes. They do not show whether both notes concern the same underlying bug, whether the issue is recurring now, or whether every platform and game build is unaffected.
What players reported
In a Battle.net feedback thread, players described being removed while spotting, sniping, moving a scope, or firing. On November 6, 2022, forum participant Scoottttay-1417 wrote, “Just went through the same. I was sniping on a huge map and never stopped moving my scope around. Kicked for inactivity.” The next day, Akord-1699 wrote, “Just got kicked myself. As a spotter or a sniper you aren’t supposed to move much or give yourself away in the process. I was shooting and all of a sudden as I was tracking another target I got kicked.”

No universal workaround or confirmed platform-specific cause is established for this symptom. General connection or PC troubleshooting categories on Activision’s support site are not confirmed fixes for false inactivity kicks. Then check Activision’s MWII support index for current help routes, including known issues, connectivity, PC troubleshooting, installation, and crashes or freezes. Its known-issues page says it tracks identified or reported problems and invites players to report issues that are not listed. The snapshot reviewed did not list this inactivity kick; a missing entry is not proof that no player can encounter it.
